
Speaking to the press, Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien said that the Committee is proposing to higher authorities that a delegation of overseas Vietnamese participate in the 80th anniversary celebration of Vietnam's National Day. This activity fulfills the aspirations of many overseas Vietnamese who wish to directly participate in important national events and celebrations; it demonstrates gratitude and appreciation for the role and contributions of overseas Vietnamese in the struggle for national independence and in the current socio-economic development.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is currently coordinating with relevant agencies to actively prepare for the organization of the commemoration ceremony by the delegation of overseas Vietnamese.
In addition, a training course on teaching Vietnamese for Vietnamese teachers abroad is scheduled to take place from August 13 to 28 in Hanoi and some neighboring localities. The program will involve 80 participants from 15 countries and territories. The training aims to improve the quality of teaching, professional qualifications, and pedagogical skills of Vietnamese teachers abroad in teaching Vietnamese using a curriculum specifically designed for Vietnamese people overseas.
In addition, the Closing Ceremony of the Day to Honor the Vietnamese Language in the Overseas Vietnamese Community in 2025 is scheduled to take place on August 14th in Hanoi, in a hybrid format (in-person and online). The ceremony will focus on evaluating the results of activities in response to the Day to Honor the Vietnamese Language in 2024-2025; and discussing and proposing directions for future implementation. Notably, the "Beloved Vietnamese Language Gala" and the Award Ceremony for the "Searching for Vietnamese Language Ambassadors Abroad" competition are scheduled for August 21st with the theme: "A River Flowing Forever, Connecting All Directions." Honoring and promoting the Vietnamese language, this theme evokes the image of the Vietnamese language as a persistent stream of history, culture, and the national spirit, continuously spreading across space and time.
Regarding the training course for leaders of Vietnamese associations abroad in 2025, taking place from August 28 to 31 in Hanoi, the Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs stated that the program demonstrates the Party and State's concern for overseas Vietnamese as well as the consistent policy of national unity in accordance with Resolution 36-NQ/TW: "Overseas Vietnamese are an inseparable part and a resource of the Vietnamese national community," contributing to building a stable, successful, united, and strong overseas Vietnamese community that actively contributes to the national rejuvenation.
This activity also fulfills the sentiments and aspirations of overseas Vietnamese who wish for the Party and State to support, strengthen, build, and develop Vietnamese associations abroad and the work of mobilizing the Vietnamese community overseas. At the same time, it aims to improve the effectiveness of managing and organizing association activities, and to cultivate necessary skills and experience in association work through lectures by experts, discussions, and exchanges of practical experience with experts and association leaders from various locations.
Within the framework of the program, information will be provided on the domestic situation and foreign policy, the functions, tasks and organizational structure of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese; the overseas Vietnamese community and associations, their relationship with the country; legal issues in Vietnam and other countries, etc.
