
During the program, the delegation went to Phan Ri Cua fishing port to propagate and disseminate laws on seas and islands, focusing on regulations related to prevention and combat of illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
Through various forms such as dialogue, leaflet distribution, consultation, and answering questions, Coast Guard officers and soldiers helped fishermen understand clearly the boundaries of fishing areas, regulations on installing voyage monitoring equipment, as well as the necessary legal procedures when working offshore. In addition, the working group also provided advice and guidance on first aid skills for drowning to over 300 people.
At the propaganda session, fishing boat owners signed a commitment not to violate IUU, demonstrating their sense of responsibility, awareness of law compliance and determination to join hands with the whole country to remove the yellow card of the European Commission (EC).


Colonel Cao Xuan Quan, Deputy Political Commissar of Coast Guard Region 3, said: “The program 'Coast Guard accompanies fishermen' is a specific and practical activity to raise legal awareness, care for people's lives, strengthen trust, and encourage fishermen to confidently go out to sea and stick to the sea. The program also contributes to enhancing the responsibility of local Party committees, authorities and people in coordinating with the Coast Guard force to manage, protect sovereignty , and enforce laws at sea; strengthen the solidarity between the army and people, build a national defense posture associated with a people's security posture at sea, firmly protect the sovereignty, security, order and safety of the sea and islands of the Fatherland”.
On this occasion, the delegation presented 50 gifts of necessities to policy families and fishermen in difficult circumstances; presented national flags, medical bags, life jackets and flashlights to fishermen at the fishing port. Along with that, responding to the spirit of "turning towards the flood area", the delegation also presented 1 ton of rice and 100 boxes of instant noodles to support the people of Hong Son commune (Lam Dong province) to overcome the consequences of natural disasters.


In the past time, implementing the coordination program "Coast Guard accompanies fishermen" signed in 2019 between the Standing Committee of Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee (before the merger) and the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of Vietnam Coast Guard, the Command of Coast Guard Region 3 has coordinated with the Propaganda Department and the Mass Mobilization Department of Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee to organize many practical and meaningful activities such as: "Island Tet", "I love the sea and islands of my homeland", social security programs, giving 624 gifts, 100 shopping vouchers to policy families and poor fishermen; giving 30 bicycles, 130 scholarships to students overcoming difficulties; sponsoring 2 children with special circumstances until they are 18 years old; organizing health check-ups, consulting, providing free medicine, giving national flags and life jackets to fishermen.
