The project to build an overpass across the Dao River, connecting Song Hao Street to Vu Huu Loi Street in Nam Dinh City, Nam Dinh Province, has a total length of 1.6km; of which, the bridge section is 0.8km long, and the approach roads at both ends are 0.8km long. The project starts at the intersection of Tran Bich San Street and Song Hao Street in Tran Quang Khai Ward, and ends at the intersection with Vu Huu Loi Street in Nam Van Commune.

The bridge over the Dao River is a cable-stayed bridge consisting of 16 spans, including 13 approach spans and 3 continuous girder spans. The bridge has a two-part structure, upper and lower. The upper part includes the main bridge section, the approach bridge section, and the cable-stayed system; the lower part includes U-shaped bridge abutments and reinforced concrete approach span piers.

The cable-stayed system consists of two reinforced concrete towers, each 31.5m high, with nine cable bundles on each side designed to connect symmetrical beam blocks across the tower body, which is designed to resemble a lotus bud.

To date, the consortium of contractors is in the process of completing most of the bridge and approach road sections.
Specifically, the bridge section has completed the construction of all 15 piers from T1 to T15 and 2 abutments M1 and M2; the installation of super T girders has been completed for 12 out of 13 spans, and concrete pouring for the deck slab has been done from abutment M2 to pier T10 (on the Cua Nam ward side) and from abutment M1 to pier T5 (on the Nang Tinh ward side); the cantilevered box girders on the main piers T8 and T9 have been completed for 256m/270m.

Currently, the contractor is continuing to cast the final girder segments in preparation for the main span closure sections, tensioning the prestressed cables, installing the Super T girder supports, pouring concrete for the remaining approach spans, and constructing the approach roads on both sides of the bridge.

Regarding the access road section, the consortium of contractors has completed the first layer of crushed stone aggregate (Type 1) on most of the route: km1+180-km1+468.65 and the first layer of crushed stone aggregate (Type 1) on branches A+B at the DT490C intersection. In addition, the box culverts (1.5×1.2m) and B500 drainage culverts have been completed. To date, the estimated value of the completed work is 85% of the contract value.

The bridge over the Dao River, connecting Song Hao Street to Vu Huu Loi Street, will become an architectural highlight of Nam Dinh City upon completion.
The bridge project across the Dao River is expected to create further impetus for the development of industrial zones and clusters, urban development projects, and craft villages; making a significant contribution to building and developing the city into a civilized and modern urban center in accordance with the objectives of the Resolution of the Nam Dinh Provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term.
