Chau Que determined to reduce poverty

Chau Que commune's infrastructure is increasingly spacious and modern.

The old wooden house is still kept by Mr. Hoang Van Viet, Nheo village, next to the newly built house completed nearly a year ago as proof of the family's constant efforts to escape poverty.

Determined not to fall back into poverty, Mr. Viet focused on raising livestock and growing cinnamon to have a stable income.

Thanks to the help of the government and social organizations of the commune to access policy capital and seed sources, the family has the conditions to develop the economy and gradually improve their lives.

Nearly 3 years ago, Mr. Trieu Van Giang's family in Nheo village still on the list of poor households in the commune. Since receiving 50 million VND from the State to help clean up the dilapidated house and a 50 million VND loan with low interest rate from the Social Policy Bank, Mr. Giang's family has more motivation to escape poverty sustainably.

Mr. Giang emotionally said: “With many children and an unstable job, my family’s economy faced many difficulties a few years ago. With the encouragement and help of the government and associations in livestock farming, cinnamon planting and exploitation techniques, our family’s income has improved day by day. Our family is determined not to fall into poverty again .”

Chau Que is a purely agricultural commune with a large population of ethnic minorities. Therefore, to increase people's income and sustainably reduce poverty, changing production thinking, restructuring, and improving the quality of labor resources are solutions that the commune is striving to implement, in which, sending workers to work abroad is a priority for the commune government.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien's husband, from Ngoc Chau village, went to work in Taiwan (China) more than a month ago with the hope of bringing a more prosperous life to his family. Ms. Lien said that with the support of the commune and the provincial authorities, all procedures for her husband to work abroad were carried out very quickly.

According to the contract, after deducting all expenses, my husband receives 20-25 million VND/month. This is a great motivation for my whole family to develop the economy and strive to become rich legitimately.

Since the beginning of the year, Chau Que commune has had 7 workers go to work under contract abroad. This result is thanks to the close support of the village chiefs.

Commune officials and village chiefs went to each household to propagate and guide people in completing labor export procedures.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Hiep - Head of Ngoc Chau village shared: When the commune had information about sending workers to work under contracts abroad, I informed the general zalo group so that people could know. This year, Ngoc Chau village had 2 people working in Taiwan (China), with an income of 20 million VND/month or more .

In 2024, Chau Que commune had 148 poor households, accounting for 4.4%, 75 near-poor households, accounting for 2.2%. To sustainably reduce poverty, in addition to supporting workers to work under contracts abroad, the commune has implemented many solutions, focusing on selecting suitable models, such as: growing cinnamon in the direction of commodities, developing semi-grazing livestock, and comprehensive economic models for replication.

Along with that, the commune promotes propaganda about bright spots in economic development in villages, helping people learn directly.

Chau Que commune strives to reduce 86 poor households by the end of 2025.

Chau Que commune officials support people in resolving administrative procedures related to labor and employment.

Comrade Vu Thanh Trung - Vice Chairman of Chau Que Commune People's Committee said: In addition to promoting the advantages in developing cinnamon trees, the commune always pays attention to and integrates the State's support programs and policies such as preferential loans, support for seeds, materials, transfer of science and technology, organizing training on production skills, connecting output for products. The commune also pays special attention to guiding people by hand, sending staff to directly guide techniques so that people can easily access and follow.

Changing mindsets and giving people opportunities to escape poverty and get rich is the consistent motto that Chau Que commune is implementing .

Poverty reduction work in Chau Que commune still faces many difficulties and challenges, but with practical and effective solutions and methods, the consensus and high determination of the entire political system, people's lives are increasingly improving, creating a premise for the commune to complete the goal of sustainable poverty reduction, building an increasingly prosperous life for the people.
