Ms. Lien sells these vegetable seedlings to households who need to buy seedlings and to small traders who buy seedlings to resell. From there, Ms. Lien has an additional source of income to cover daily expenses and stabilize her life.

Ms. Lien, a farmer in Cay Duong town, Phung Hiep district, Hau Giang province, is taking care of various vegetable seedlings. With only 20 square meters of land in front of her house, Ms. Lien grows vegetable seedlings for sale and earns a profit of nearly 50 million VND/year.

With more than 7 years of experience in growing vegetable seedlings, Ms. Huynh Kim Lien shared: Growing vegetable seedlings is very simple and easy to do.

The materials used for growing vegetable seedlings are readily available and inexpensive, mainly consisting of duckweed mixed with rice husk ash and banana leaves used to wrap the seedbeds. Because of this versatility, the investment cost for growing vegetable seedlings is very low.

Ms. Huynh Kim Lien said that she grows and sells vegetable seedlings all year round. On average, she sells 10,000 vegetable seedlings of all kinds every month, at a price of 500 VND/plant, earning 5 million VND. After deducting 1 million VND in expenses, she still has a profit of 4 million VND.

Ms. Huynh Kim Lien added: The number of seedlings sold is large, mainly concentrated in the rainy season, at this time people grow vegetables that are very easy to grow, the weather is very favorable, easy to care for and reduce costs.

Furthermore, in the months leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), people buy a lot of vegetable seedlings, taking advantage of the opportunity to plant vegetables in preparation for selling during Tet. Therefore, during this period, the number of people ordering seedlings is very high, and the quantity sold is also higher compared to the early months of the year.

Since then, her income has also increased and if calculated for the whole year, Ms. Lien sold a total of 120,000 vegetable seedlings, earning 60 million VND after deducting 12 million VND in expenses, making a profit of 48 million VND/year.

Ms. Lien believes that growing colorful seedlings is a very suitable job for her. In the coming time, she will continue to do it and increase the scale to meet people's demand for seedlings.
