
In 2024, the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection actively advised the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development on production plans for the year, ensuring the planted area; and introduced new high-yield, high-quality varieties into production, contributing to meeting the demand for food.
The Sub-Department also guided localities in converting crop structures in accordance with the directives of the Hanoi People's Committee, minimizing the amount of abandoned agricultural land. It guided farmers in localities on timely and proper crop care, especially in restoring production after the impact of natural disasters (particularly Typhoon No. 3 - Yagi).
Also in 2024, the Sub-Department successfully carried out the investigation, detection, estimation, and accurate forecasting of pests and diseases affecting crops; preventing outbreaks of pests and diseases that could cause damage to production. The Sub-Department has also coordinated the dissemination and implementation of IPM/IPHM programs and the improved rice intensification system (SRI) in many localities. At the same time, it has effectively controlled the business and use of agricultural supplies; and promptly and lawfully handled cases of violations…
Speaking at the summary conference of the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection held on January 9th, the Director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Nguyen Xuan Dai, emphasized that in 2024, despite facing many difficulties, the growth of the capital's agricultural sector was maintained at a relatively high level, highly appreciated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Hanoi People's Committee. The crop production and plant protection sector made a significant contribution to this overall achievement.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dai stated that in the coming period, Hanoi aims to develop agriculture in the direction of organic and circular agriculture. In this, the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection will play a particularly important role in enabling the agricultural sector to concretize this goal.

Looking ahead, Mr. Dai suggested that the Plant Protection and Crop Production Sub-Department continue to do a good job of advising the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. In particular, this includes issuing mechanisms and policies to encourage and promote the production of specialty and characteristic crop varieties; and developing stable and sustainable production-consumption linkage models for crop products.
Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Dai also provided further information, stating that in 2025, the city will allocate funds to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the quality of agricultural land in Hanoi. Based on this assessment, a map will be developed to guide the efficient use of agricultural land, aiming to maximize its value.
At the conference, the Hanoi Plant Protection and Crop Production Sub-Department and Ms. Luu Thi Hang (Sub-Department Head) were honored to receive Certificates of Commendation from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development also awarded certificates of merit to 4 collectives and 21 individuals for their achievements in 2024.
