Without hesitation, Nguyen Cong Duc and 4 officers and soldiers immediately commandeered fishing boat BV 92927 TS of fisherman Nguyen Vo Cong, captained by Nguyen Van Dung, and quickly rushed towards the ship in distress in the midst of the violent sea.

At 7:35 a.m. the same day, Duc's boat approached the scene. Before their eyes were 8 people drifting in the middle of the sea, clinging to plastic cans and life jackets, exhausted in the midst of strong winds and waves. Calm and determined, Duc and his teammates lowered rope ladders, threw ropes, pulled each person onto the boat, performed first aid and initial care. When all 8 fishermen in distress were safe, Duc determined the coordinates, placed signal lights at the sunken boat's location to warn passing vehicles, and then brought the victims back to the unit. At the unit, when hearing Nguyen Van Ly (born in 1988, in My Long commune, Vinh Long province) thanking on behalf of the fishermen of fishing boat BT 93839 TS, Duc just smiled gently: "That is our duty".

Since the beginning of 2025, Major Nguyen Cong Duc and his teammates have rescued 21 fishermen in distress in the midst of strong winds and waves five times. Despite the danger, he has always been dedicated, maintaining the spirit of "sacrificing himself for the people", regularly maintaining his equipment, practicing his skills, and being ready to respond in any situation at sea. Duc's courageous actions not only saved human lives but also spread the spirit of responsibility and love for his compatriots; portraying the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers - steadfast, kind-hearted, and steadfast Border Guard soldiers at the forefront of the storm.

With many outstanding achievements, Major Nguyen Cong Duc was awarded the title of Emulation Fighter and many other forms of commendation, worthy of the trust and love of fishermen in the heroic sea and island of Con Dao.
