The Khe Lai - Vuc Mau Reservoir project in Tan Thang commune, Quynh Luu district, was approved in June 2009 and commenced construction in 2010, with a total investment of over 227.8 billion VND. However, due to various reasons, the project was delayed and construction was temporarily suspended in 2017.
To continue the construction of this project, on October 29, 2021, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development issued Decision No. 4228 approving the adjustment of the Khe Lai - Vuc Mau Reservoir Project, Phase 1. The total investment for the project is 627 billion VND, of which the cost for land clearance is over 373 billion VND.
Accordingly, following on-site inspections by relevant agencies, the damming and main dam completion work of the Khe Lai - Vuc Mau Reservoir Project is now ready for implementation. Therefore, on the morning of April 15th, the Khe Lai - Vuc Mau Reservoir Project in Tan Thang commune, Quynh Luu district, was officially authorized by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to dam the river and accumulate water.
The diversion of the river has been implemented to an elevation of 33-35m, allowing the reservoir to regulate the upcoming minor flood. After the diversion is completed, the construction unit will proceed with the construction of the upstream slope and other items. The Khe Lai - Vuc Mau Reservoir Project in Tan Thang commune, Quynh Luu district is expected to be completed around December 31, 2024.
Once operational, this project will provide irrigation water for 1,524 hectares of cultivated land, including rice and industrial crops; simultaneously, it will create a source of domestic water for 11,700 people in the surrounding area, supplement the water supply for Vuc Mau Lake with a capacity of 13.4 million m³ /year, contribute to flood control on the Hoang Mai River, and help improve the ecosystem and environment in the project area.
