The Mutianyu Great Wall in Beijing is considered by many tourists to be the most beautiful section of the Great Wall, especially stunning in autumn. A highlight is the 1.5 km toboggan ride from watchtower number 6 down to the base of the mountain, with a maximum speed of around 30 km/h, taking only 5-10 minutes depending on speed. Single tickets cost 100 RMB, combined packages range from 140-250 RMB; the toboggan ride is open from 8 am to 6 pm during peak season.

Sliding down a water slide amidst the autumn foliage.
The Mutianyu toboggan ride is one of the longest in China, winding along the mountainside with numerous curves. Visitors ride in single or double sleds, controlled by a central lever: push to accelerate, pull to brake. From watchtower number 6, the sled glides down near the exit, flanked by changing colors of the forest.
A Vietnamese tourist from Ho Chi Minh City shared the exhilarating feeling of "being able to fly" while sliding down the Great Wall and admiring the golden and red leaves. Despite the cold weather causing numb hands, the experience is still "worth trying" if visiting the Great Wall in autumn.

Mutianyu – an ancient city nestled in the autumn forest.
Mutianyu is a famous photo spot on the Great Wall of China, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The scenery changes with the seasons, but autumn is the most popular time, when the mountain slopes are covered in shades of yellow and red.
Operating instructions and safety precautions
- Single/double sled, with a manual control lever in the middle: push to accelerate (maximum speed around 30 km/h), pull to brake.
- Sit in the correct position, hold the handle firmly; avoid leaning out or stopping midway.
- When entering a curve, you should lean inward to reduce the risk.
- Maintain a safe distance of at least 20 meters from the vehicle in front.
- The design is suitable for the general public; even inexperienced players can participate if they follow the instructions.
- Children under 10 years old must sit with an adult; people over 60 years old or with cardiovascular disease should limit their participation.
- If it rains heavily, the road will be slippery, and the waterslide will stop working.

Slide times, queues, and time slots to avoid.
The slide down takes about 5-10 minutes depending on the speed. During peak season, such as autumn, visitors may have to queue for quite a long time, even up to an hour. A practical tip is to choose a suitable time, avoiding 12 PM and late afternoon (4-5 PM) to reduce waiting time.

Please check the weather before you go; if it rains heavily, the activity will be temporarily suspended. When there are many people on the toboggan, the speed may slow down, affecting the sense of adventure.
