Parallel Optical Chips – A New Step for AI Development

Researchers in China have just announced the successful manufacture of the world's first optical chip capable of processing hundreds of light data channels in parallel, achieving a performance of up to 2,560 TOPS. With a processing speed of 50 GHz, this chip is considered to be close to the power of today's most advanced graphics processors.

Unlike conventional electronic chips, optical chips use light to transmit and process data, thereby providing low latency, energy savings, and superior concurrency.
