In the second leg of the Viettel Marathon 2024, held in early December, Nguyen Thi Oanh displayed an extremely impressive performance, winning the marathon distance (42.194 km). Her remarkable achievement of 2 hours 39 minutes and 49 seconds surpassed her own national record (the previous record was 2 hours 44 minutes and 20 seconds).

Nguyen Thi Oanh will continue to participate in Stage 3 of the Viettel Marathon 2024, taking place on December 22nd at Angkor Wat (Cambodia). She remains a strong contender for the women's marathon title. Furthermore, with the beautiful race route around the UNESCO heritage site of Angkor Wat, the runner from Bac Giang promises to set a new record. Meanwhile, in the men's marathon, Stage 2 champion Hoang Nguyen Thanh and runner-up Nguyen Van Lai will continue to compete, promising a dramatic showdown.
The organizers of the Viettel Marathon 2024 have announced that the third and final leg will be held in Cambodia.
Besides the advanced category, the Viettel Marathon 2024 Angkor Wat leg also welcomes thousands of athletes to compete in the amateur category. In addition, the organizers are offering prizes in the Club category (Viettel Marathon Golden Club) and the Team category (Viettel Marathon Golden Team) with attractive prize structures. The number of athletes expected to participate in the third leg of the Viettel Marathon 2024 in Cambodia is 9,000. Previously, the first leg in Luang Prabang (Laos) saw the participation of 5,000 athletes, and the second leg in Hanoi created a sensation with over 10,000 athletes.

The Viettel Marathon 2024 is organized by the Vietnam Athletics Federation in collaboration with the Cambodian Athletics Federation and the Lao Athletics Federation. The Vietnam Military Telecommunications and Industry Corporation (Viettel Group) – the parent company of Metfone – is the co-organizer and sponsor, with the Asian Athletics Association providing consultancy and supervision, and Vietcontent implementing the event.
