Hanoi Chairman holds officials responsible for delay and over budget of 6 mega projects

The Hanoi People's Committee has just issued a plan to implement Resolution 53 of the Government on the implementation of Resolution 74 of the National Assembly on promoting the implementation of policies and laws on practicing thrift and combating waste.

The plan of the Hanoi People's Committee requires classification to clarify responsibilities and handle organizations and individuals that have caused violations, negativity, and losses in 6 projects and project clusters using public investment capital ineffectively or wastefully (stated in Resolution 74 of the National Assembly ).

To serve the construction of package 2 of Yen Xa wastewater treatment system, the contractor erected a 60m long, 6.5m wide barrier opposite lane 495 Nguyen Trai (Thanh Xuan, Hanoi).

Resolution 74 of the National Assembly clearly states 6 projects and project clusters including Student Housing for the Cluster of Schools in the New Urban Area of Phap Van - Tu Hiep; Water Supply and Restoration Project of Tich River; Hanoi Museum; Urban Railway Project for the Nam Thang Long - Tran Hung Dao section; Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station Urban Railway Project; Yen Xa Wastewater Treatment System Construction Project.

Among the 6 projects mentioned above, the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station Urban Railway Project has just had to adjust the total investment from 32,910 billion VND to more than 34,800 billion VND; at the same time, the project implementation period has been adjusted from 2009 - 2022 to 2009 - 2027, extending by 5 years.

In addition, the Yen Xa wastewater treatment system project has a total investment capital of more than 16,200 billion VND, using ODA capital from Japan and counterpart capital from Hanoi City.

The Hanoi People's Committee assigned Vice Chairman Duong Duc Tuan to direct the Department of Planning and Investment to prepare the above plan; the completion date is before July 31.
