Also attending the Congress were: Former Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, former Vice President, and former President of the Vietnam Women's Union, Truong My Hoa; Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee, Le Quang Tung; and members of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, the Standing Committee of the People's Council, the People's Committee, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City.
The Congress was attended by 299 official delegates representing more than 665,400 female cadres and members throughout the city.
The First Congress of Women's Representatives of Can Tho City, for the term 2025-2030, was held under the motto "Unity - Compassion - Creativity - Integration - Development". The theme of the Congress was: "Promoting the traditions, courage, intelligence, and aspirations of Can Tho women in the new era; building a strong Women's Union organization; contributing to promoting gender equality; and working together to develop Can Tho city rapidly, sustainably, and modernly, making it a livable city."

The Congress took place in the context of the Can Tho City Women's Union operating under a new model after the merger; the Party Committee, military, and people of the city are striving to rise strongly, affirming its role as a central driving force of the Mekong Delta region.
According to the Can Tho City Women's Union, during the 2021-2025 period, emulation movements, campaigns, and breakthrough initiatives have been widely implemented by all levels of the Union, linked to the city's patriotic emulation movements, truly serving as a leverage for the Union to effectively achieve its goals and tasks. To date, 100% of the targets set in the Resolution of the City Women's Congress have been met or exceeded; with many targets significantly surpassed those set in the Resolution.
In her opening remarks at the Congress, the Chairwoman of the Can Tho City Women's Union, Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh, emphasized that during the 2021-2025 period, the material and spiritual lives of female cadres and members will improve, the level and role of women in the family and in society will be enhanced; the Women's Union organization from the city to the grassroots level will become increasingly strong, gathering all strata of women to actively participate in patriotic emulation movements and Union work tasks, contributing to the economic , cultural, social, national defense, and security development of the city.
According to the Can Tho City Women's Union, the First City Women's Congress took place in a special context following the merger of three provinces/cities: Can Tho, Hau Giang, and Soc Trang, operating a two-tiered local government system. This opened up many development opportunities but also posed unprecedented new demands, requiring the City Women's Union to continue to strongly innovate the content and methods of its activities, improve the quality of patriotic emulation movements and the organization's activities; unite, mobilize, gather, and unleash the enormous potential of all strata of women, meeting the requirements of the new development era and effectively fulfilling its core role in women's affairs.
Based on the above context and requirements, the Congress will address two main issues: firstly, comprehensively summarizing and evaluating the results of the women's movement and the activities of the City Women's Union, and objectively and comprehensively reviewing and assessing the leadership of the Executive Committee for the 2021-2026 term; and secondly, focusing intellectual efforts and democratic discussion to determine the goals, directions, and tasks for the 2025-2030 term.
Secondly, the Congress will announce decisions appointing personnel to the Executive Committee, Standing Committee, and key positions of the City Women's Union for the 2025-2030 term, decisions appointing members of the Inspection Committee, the Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson of the Inspection Committee, as well as decisions appointing delegates to the 14th National Women's Congress.
The Congress of Women's Representatives of Can Tho City for the term 2025-2030 is an important political event, a grand celebration for all strata of women in the city, marking the maturity and development of the Women's Union organization and the women's movement in Can Tho City.
