On August 28, the North Korean state news agency ( KCNA ) reported that Chairman Kim Jong-un inspected the testing of an upgraded 240 mm rocket launcher system.
According to KCNA , the new system "has demonstrated superiority in mobility and concentrated attack capabilities" during testing.
Earlier this week, Kim Jong-un also inspected the testing of new “suicide drones,” watching them take off and destroy test targets, including a model tank.
The leader also called on North Korean researchers to develop artificial intelligence for UAVs, as well as to produce more of these devices to enhance the country's combat readiness.
According to Yonhap news agency, Pentagon spokesman Major General Pat Ryder stated that the US wants to treat these suicide drone threats as "serious" and will closely monitor them.
Speaking at a press conference on August 27, Ryder said: “The United States will continue to consult closely with South Korea, Japan, and other partners and allies in the region to ensure that our collective defense capabilities remain strong.”
Responding to a question about how Washington would deal with "asymmetrical" threats from Pyongyang, General Ryder emphasized that the focus of U.S. policy is defense and that the U.S. does not want conflict with North Korea.
