President receives Ambassadors of Indonesia and Singapore to say goodbye

On the afternoon of October 27, at the Presidential Palace, President Luong Cuong received the Ambassadors of Indonesia and Singapore who came to say goodbye on the occasion of the end of their term of office in Vietnam.

Receiving Indonesian Ambassador Denny Abdi, the President congratulated the Ambassador on successfully completing his term of office in Vietnam and making many positive contributions to promoting the development of relations between the two countries.

Pointing out that the relationship with Indonesia holds an important position in Vietnam's foreign policy, on the solid foundation built by President Ho Chi Minh and President Sukarno, and cultivated by generations of leaders and people of the two countries, the President affirmed that over the past 70 years, the friendship and cooperation have increasingly developed, comprehensively in all fields of politics , economics, trade, investment, tourism, defense, security...

On this occasion, the President also congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment as Secretary General of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and hoped that in any position, the Ambassador would continue to promote friendly and cooperative relations for the benefit of the people of the two countries, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

Ambassador Denny Abdi thanked the President for taking the time to meet him and said that starting his term in Vietnam in early 2021 was a very difficult time amid the Covid-19 pandemic, but it was also from those difficulties that he felt more clearly the affection and good friendship between the State and people of Vietnam.

In the context of the current complicated developments in the world and region, on the basis of the good traditional friendship and being active members of ASEAN, Ambassador Denny Abdi believes that Vietnam and Indonesia will make important contributions to promoting ASEAN solidarity and further development.

Agreeing with the Ambassador's opinion, the President emphasized that further deepening the bilateral relationship not only meets the interests of the two peoples, but also contributes to building a united, united, strong ASEAN and actively contributes to peace, stability and development in the region and the world.

The President said that in the coming time, the two countries need to continue to strengthen political trust, promote delegation exchanges and contacts at high and all levels; effectively implement high-level agreements; promptly develop an Action Program to implement the Vietnam-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for the 2025-2030 period; strive to soon complete the goal of two-way trade turnover reaching 18 billion USD by 2028; strengthen defense and security cooperation; and have policies to encourage businesses of the two countries to invest in areas with strengths and needs of each country.

The President stressed that Vietnam and Indonesia should coordinate and support each other at regional and international forums, especially ASEAN, the United Nations, and APEC, on the basis of international law, for the benefit of the two peoples, for peace and regional development; continue to strengthen cooperation, consolidate solidarity and the central role of ASEAN; support ASEAN's common stance on the East Sea issue, and promote effective and efficient COC negotiations.

The President wished Ambassador Denny Abdi success in his new position, continuing to contribute to Indonesia's diplomacy, as well as the development of Vietnam-Indonesia relations.

The President highly appreciated the trust and close development in political relations between the two countries; emphasized that the two sides regularly maintain visits and contacts at high and all levels through all channels of the Party, State, Government, and National Assembly; bilateral cooperation mechanisms have been effectively promoted, and people-to-people exchanges have increasingly flourished.

Along with that, bilateral trade turnover has always grown steadily and currently reaches nearly 9 billion USD; cooperation between the two countries has made a breakthrough within the framework of the Green Economy - Digital Economy partnership. Singapore is a leading investor in Vietnam, especially the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) network, which has become a symbol of successful economic cooperation.

Emphasizing that Vietnam always attaches importance to strengthening relations with Singapore, a leading economic partner of Vietnam, the President suggested that the two sides continue to promote delegation exchanges and contacts at high and all levels; focus on building and implementing the Action Program to implement the Vietnam-Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for the 2025-2030 period.

The President hopes that the two sides will promote defense-security cooperation and other areas of cooperation such as science and technology, digital transformation, green transformation, culture, education and especially human resource development; maintain and sustain the momentum of trade and investment relations between the two countries. In the context of the complicated world situation, the two countries need to strengthen cooperation, consolidate solidarity, support each other at regional and international forums; have a strong voice in support of ASEAN's common stance on the East Sea issue on the basis of international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, together maintaining a peaceful, stable, cooperative and jointly developing ASEAN region.

The President hopes that, with his good feelings about the country and people of Vietnam, no matter what position he holds, the Ambassador will continue to promote the Vietnam-Singapore relationship in the coming time.

Expressing his gratitude to the President for taking the time to meet him, Ambassador Jaya Ratnam expressed his joy at witnessing Vietnam's remarkable development in recent years, affirming that Singapore always admires the resilience and solidarity of the Vietnamese people.

The Singaporean Ambassador highly appreciated Vietnam's successful organization of the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime (Hanoi Convention), saying that this is a clear demonstration of Vietnam's proactive role and growing international prestige.

Agreeing with the President's assessments of bilateral relations, the Ambassador expressed his belief that the Action Program to implement the Vietnam-Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for the 2025-2030 period will open a new, deeper and more effective phase of cooperation.

The Ambassador affirmed that political trust between the two countries' leaders is an important foundation to help bilateral relations become increasingly close, while contributing to strengthening solidarity and common prosperity of ASEAN.
