Early this morning, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga and a high-ranking delegation left Hanoi for official visits to Senegal and Morocco, to attend the World Conference of Speakers of Parliaments, and to conduct bilateral activities in Switzerland from July 22-30.
The visits took place at the invitation of President of the Senegalese Parliament El Malick Ndiaye; President of the Moroccan House of Representatives Rachid Talbi Alami; President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Tulia Ackson and IPU Secretary General Martin Chungong.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Algeria and Senegal Tran Quoc Khanh; Vietnamese Ambassador to Morocco Le Kim Quy; Vietnamese Ambassador to Switzerland Phung The Long; Ambassador, Head of the Vietnamese Delegation to the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva Mai Phan Dung; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dang Hoang Giang also joined the delegation.
The first destination of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga and their delegation is Senegal. The National Assembly Chairman will have many important activities there from July 22-24.
For Morocco, this is the first official visit by a key Vietnamese leader in six years and for Senegal since the two countries established diplomatic relations.
The visit of the National Assembly Chairman with the mark of parliamentary diplomacy, besides consolidating good political relations, further deepening friendship and connecting people of the two nations, the main content is to strengthen cooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly with the Moroccan National Assembly and the Senegalese Parliament, creating a legal framework for the Governments and businesses of the countries to enhance cooperation.
Both Senegal and Morocco are countries with the most dynamically developing economies in Africa. Senegal is located in West Africa, on the Atlantic coast, has a strategic position, is the "gateway" to the Economic Community of West African States, has a young population, many resources, great economic potential and is a center of future South-South cooperation.
The visit also aims to promote multifaceted substantive cooperation with Morocco, Senegal in particular and Africa in general in the fields of economy, trade, investment, tourism, cultural exchange and people-to-people exchange, for the practical benefits and sustainable development of each country.
The 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament is an important event of parliamentary diplomacy. This conference has the theme: "A world in turmoil: Parliamentary cooperation and multilateralism for peace, justice and prosperity for all people". The conference is held in Geneva, Switzerland with the participation of parliaments of nearly 120 countries, including nearly 100 Speakers of Parliaments and National Assemblies of the participating countries.
