On the morning of January 8, at the National Assembly House, right after the talks, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and Bulgarian National Assembly Chairman Rossen Jeliazkov met with reporters from the two countries.
National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue said that Vietnam always values the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Bulgaria, considering it a priceless asset that has been cultivated by many generations of leaders and people of the two countries over nearly 75 years of establishing diplomatic relations.
The talks between the two National Assembly Chairmen were very successful, with in-depth discussions on bilateral cooperation in all areas and a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern. Based on the good results of cooperation between the two countries and the two National Assemblies in recent times, with the desire and determination to promote closer and more effective cooperation in the coming time, the two sides agreed on a number of major cooperation orientations.
The two countries will increase delegation exchanges and high-level contacts between the two countries' National Assemblies, National Assembly agencies, and National Assembly deputies; focus on enhancing the exchange of experiences in law-making.
"The Chairman of the Bulgarian National Assembly and I are committed to promptly, actively, and effectively implementing the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Bulgarian National Assembly signed in September 2023 on the occasion of the official visit to Bulgaria by a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly," said National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.
Along with that, the National Assemblies of the two countries will closely coordinate to urge and supervise the effective implementation of cooperation mechanisms and agreements between the two governments.
In the immediate future, urge the two governments to soon convene the Intergovernmental Committee on Science, Technology and Economic Cooperation in 2024 in Bulgaria and promote favorable cooperation frameworks from the Vietnam-European Union Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), promote trade and investment cooperation between the two countries through supporting and encouraging cooperation connections between businesses of the two countries, creating favorable conditions for the business community as well as people of the two countries living, investing and doing business in each country to exploit to the maximum the potential, advantages and advantages of each country and complement each other in the fields of agriculture, processing and exporting agricultural products, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, energy, and combating climate change.
Vietnam is ready to create favorable conditions for Bulgarian enterprises to export to Vietnam products such as wheat, vegetable oil, rose essential oil, dried fruits, wine, food, and cooperate in the fields of information technology, clean energy and environmental protection, etc.
The two sides promote cooperation in culture, tourism, education, encourage cooperation between localities, contribute to enhancing understanding, friendship and solidarity between the two peoples and promote people-to-people exchange.
In that spirit, the National Assembly Chairman welcomed the Cooperation Agreement between the leaders of Lai Chau city and Kazanlak city, Kazanlak province (Bulgaria) immediately after the talks.
The two sides continue to closely coordinate consultation mechanisms and support each other at multilateral forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the United Nations, ASEM, etc. to actively contribute to peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
The National Assembly Chairman highly appreciated the extremely meaningful gesture of the Bulgarian National Assembly in ratifying the Vietnam-EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) right before the official visit to Bulgaria by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue in September 2023. The National Assembly Chairman hoped that the Bulgarian National Assembly would mobilize the parliaments of other EU countries to soon ratify the Agreement so that it can take effect, creating a solid legal framework for EU enterprises, including Bulgarian and Vietnamese enterprises, to strengthen bilateral investment cooperation for the benefit of both sides...
"With the good results in the cooperation between the two countries, we have a solid basis to believe that the cooperation between the two National Assemblies will be raised to a new level, contributing to strengthening the friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Bulgaria, which will increasingly deepen, be substantive, and comprehensive in all fields, towards the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2025," National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue emphasized.

Speaking at the press conference, National Assembly Chairman Rossen Jeliazkov sincerely thanked National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue for the warm and enthusiastic reception.
According to the Chairman of the Bulgarian National Assembly, the visit of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly to Bulgaria in September 2023 and this visit of the high-ranking delegation of the Bulgarian National Assembly not only demonstrates the development of the cooperative relationship between the two countries' National Assemblies but also demonstrates the continued deepening and implementation of agreements and cooperation in 2024.
Accordingly, this year, the two sides are expected to have a number of events such as: political consultation between the two Foreign Ministers, the meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee of the two countries. The areas of cooperation focused on are energy, pharmaceuticals, tourism, etc. The two sides agreed to cooperate closely in security, defense, cooperation between localities, people-to-people exchange, etc.
The President of the Bulgarian National Assembly emphasized the importance of having a labor cooperation document between the two countries signed in 2024, in order to create a basis for promoting labor cooperation between Bulgaria and Vietnam; at the same time, he mentioned the EVFTA Agreement, the EVIPA Agreement, the prospects of Indo-Pacific economic cooperation for prosperity, and cooperation with ASEAN in the overall cooperation relationship between the two countries.
"In an atmosphere of friendship, we need to take responsibility to take advantage of these potentials and bilateral cooperation agreements to promote cooperation between the two countries," said the Chairman of the Bulgarian National Assembly.
Referring to the famous saying about friendship: "A true friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future and accepts your present no matter what", Speaker of the National Assembly Rossen Jeliazkov expressed his belief that the traditional friendly cooperation between Vietnam and Bulgaria, including cooperation between the two countries' parliaments, will be continuously strengthened and strongly developed in the coming time.
