We write about ourselves: Through the cultural domain - 13 years of broadcasting (Part 1)

“This is Long An Radio Station” - a familiar sound that resounds every morning on the radio has become familiar to Long An people since 1978, until “This is Long An Newspaper and Radio - Television Station” - the MC's chant on the background music of the song Vam Co Dong, at 5am and “I wish you a good night's sleep” at 9pm every night has become an indispensable “spiritual food” for a part of the audience. A broadcast schedule that has been carefully researched and consulted by radio listeners with interwoven programs creates harmony and rationality, especially live radio programs: Through the cultural region (QMVH), Departure, Tri am dong dong, Giai melodies of time,... have contributed to creating the brand of FM 96.9Mhz. Within the framework of this article, we would like to share about our typical "brainchildren" during the years of accompanying radio waves in particular and Long An press in general.

Lesson 1: Through the cultural realm - 13 years of broadcasting

Once a month, on the first Saturday of the month, with the theme song and the inspiring MC's voice, QMVH has made an impression and is the most anticipated because the opening theme song itself almost says it all about a typical program that bears the mark and breath of the people of the Southern land . 13 years have passed, the program has accompanied the audience since its first broadcast.

The crew of the program Through the Cultural Region broadcast live on June 7, 2025 at Long An bridge point

In 2012, the first QMVH live radio program was produced, broadcasting the voices of the Southern children of the three localities of Long An, Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Ca Mau to listeners nationwide. The program is broadcast on the first Saturday morning of the month.

The first “bricks” of this program were laid by Long An Radio and Television Station. Five years later, Tra Vinh Radio and Television Station joined this consortium instead of Ca Mau Radio and Television Station.

By 2019, with the participation of Tay Ninh Radio and Television Station, the program has been broadcast on 4 Radio and Television Stations: Long An, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Tra Vinh and Tay Ninh so far.

13 years ago, when deciding to coordinate the program, the team received many opinions, most of which said that the purpose and meaning were great but too risky.

The first people who laid the foundation for the program, such as journalist Thuy Dung - former Head of Radio and Television Department, Long An Radio and Television Station, at that time, now Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Long An Radio and Television Station, shared: “When implementing the first program, we were very worried, having to prepare everything from the script, guests to equipment and signal testing the day before, but the staff was small and new to the implementation. When the program was broadcast, the whole crew was excited but also very worried. With such initial difficulties, up to now, the program has been implemented professionally. Over the past 13 years, with a lot of information being conveyed, it has contributed to spreading the cultural identity of localities to listeners, so that listeners love the cultural traditions of their localities and their country more.”

One of the people who has been with Ba Ria-Vung Tau Radio and Television Station since the early days is journalist Kim Hoang - former Head of the Radio Department at that time, who said that the first broadcasts encountered many difficulties, but the whole crew tried and made efforts to make the first broadcast of the program as complete as possible. Journalist Kim Hoang recalled: “The first days were very difficult because the live equipment system of the stations was not synchronized, so the signal was sometimes good, sometimes not,... However, those initial difficulties did not make the production crew falter, but all the stations tried to overcome them. And the program that has been maintained until today is a result of the diligence, solidarity and enthusiasm of the radio workers”.

Thanks to the harmonious and harmonious coordination of the stations, the first episodes after being broadcast received support and had the power to spread closer to listeners in the region as well as the whole country. Generations of MCs and reporters from the program gradually matured such as Minh Khanh, Diem Trang, Chi Hai, Truong Vu, Thuy Linh, Hoang Nga, Cam Mai, Quoc Thai, Thuy Tien, Hoang Phuoc, Le Van, Yen Mai, Phu Khanh, Le Nguyen, Nhut Truong, Quynh Nhu, Thuy Lieu, Minh Lam,...

Editor - MC Quoc Thai (Ba Ria - Vung Tau City & Television Station) - who has been with the program for 6 years as editor and MC, shared: After nearly 6 years of working with the QMVH program, I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to work with my colleagues.

Through each broadcast, we have the opportunity to exchange, learn from experiences and learn about the cultural beauty of the localities at the connecting points. I truly appreciate and am grateful to the program for giving me the opportunity to improve my career to develop further.

In the coming journey, I hope the program will continue to be maintained, whether in a new version or with a new person in charge, the program will always be a companion of listeners near and far.

As for the QMVH live broadcast program, it can be affirmed that this is a large-scale program and has been followed by a large number of listeners over the past time. Therefore, when invited to participate in the broadcast, the program's Editorial Board, at the Tra Vinh bridge point, was very happy and excited, but there were many worries in the first days of implementation.

Because Tra Vinh Radio and Television Station joined in early 2018, at that time the QMVH program had been established for 5 years and was very popular with listeners across the country.

After 7 years of participating in the QMVH program, those who directly implemented it at the Tra Vinh bridge point have had many memorable memories, not only happy memories but also many unexpected technical incidents.

Tra Vinh Bridge has also contributed to the program a "special dish" that makes up the brand, which is the thematic skit of each program produced by the team of reporters, editors, and technicians of the Station. All have tried to perfect to work with other stations to gradually improve the quality of the program, meeting the increasingly high enjoyment needs of listeners near and far.

Tay Ninh Radio and Television Station was the last station to participate in 2019, when the QMVH program also changed its format from one guest per station to the main station taking charge of inviting guests and the stations interacting together.

In addition, the program also increased the time by 30 minutes, increasing the duration from 60 minutes to 90 minutes with the sub-section Southern flavors.

During the time of information explosion of social networks, radio waves encountered many difficulties. However, through the connection of 4 stations, starting to livestream in 2020 with new and lively programs, not only promoting their land but also promoting Southern cuisine everywhere,... spreading the characteristics of the land and people of their locality to listeners near and far.

Even more special, at the 15th National Radio Festival in 2022, the live radio program QMVH, in collaboration with 3 stations, won the Silver Prize. This is a great encouragement for the team in their professional work, contributing to spreading good cultural values to friends in the region.

13 years have passed, more than 150 broadcasts, the QMVH program has overcome many difficulties and challenges, although sometimes a bit quiet, but with the determination of the whole crew, the program has increasingly spread in life. In the coming time, there will be many changes, will QMVH continue to accompany the listeners or not? But we - the people who make the program hope that our dear viewers and listeners will always remember the name QMVH with many beautiful and meaningful memories./.
