The conference, organized by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, was held both in person and online, connecting with 1,632 locations. Information from the conference indicated that, through the campaigns "One good news story every day, one beautiful story every week" and "Civilized behavior in cyberspace," the youth union has disseminated over 13 million good news stories and beautiful stories over the past three years.
In particular, the recent media campaign spreading positive information on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd, with the theme "Proud of Vietnam," achieved nearly 11 billion views on social media platforms TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube, ranking first among major media campaigns during the A80 period.
According to Bui Quang Huy, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Youth Union, this result shows that if positive information is consistently disseminated, implemented correctly, and connected widely, the effectiveness of communication and its impact will be enormous.
First Secretary Bui Quang Huy suggested that, in the coming period, the Youth Union's propaganda and education work needs to adjust its methods to suit the requirements of the new situation, focusing on promoting digital transformation; shifting the Youth Union's propaganda and education work from one-way to multi-way, with regular interaction with Youth Union members and young people, making Youth Union members the "subjects" in educational work...
At the same time, youth union branches at all levels need to focus on connecting "digital ecosystems" with other agencies and organizations in the political system, integrating them into a common "digital front" platform and the national population database system to share resources and, when needed, uniformly disseminate directional information and increase communication power.
At the conference, participants shared experiences in organizing events and movements that attract the attention of a large number of young people. Specifically, youth union branches at all levels need to diversify their presentation methods to make content more engaging and accessible; making maximum use of popular social media formats such as short videos, podcasts, livestreams, talk shows, etc., with selective use of inspirational photo series.
In addition, youth organizations can organize creative online competitions and communication campaigns such as "Young Civil Servants and Workplace Culture," "I Tell Stories About Uncle Ho," "The Beauty of Young Cadres," etc., to encourage young people to be creative and spread positive messages; apply gamification in education, design games and tests so that young people can learn while playing, and receive recognition and encouragement.
The opinions also agreed on the need to strengthen censorship, guidance, and combat online harassment; improve the capacity to identify and handle harmful and toxic information by equipping youth union members with digital communication knowledge and skills; and proactively refute false information and distorted narratives with sharp arguments, authentic evidence, and persuasive language.
