In 2025, Cuu Long University was authorized to open a multimedia communication major and organized its first enrollment with nearly 60 students admitted. Despite being only the first year of training, the university has focused on providing practical experience for its students.

On December 9, 2025, students majoring in multimedia communication at Cuu Long University had the opportunity to attend the seminar "Media Training: From Innovation to a New Era" organized by Thanh Nien Newspaper. This provided students with the chance to update themselves on the latest media trends, meet leading experts in the field, gain inspiration and guidance for personal development, hone their soft skills, and expand their career and internship opportunities.

Pham Ngoc Ha My, a student in the 26th cohort of the Multimedia Communication program, shared: "The seminar gave me many fresh perspectives on the dramatic transformation of the media industry. I was most impressed by how lecturers from many major universities and experienced seniors looked back at the formation and development of Vietnamese media since the Doi Moi (Renovation) period, while also pointing out completely new requirements in the current digital age."

Ha My was particularly interested in the discussion about the skills that media students need to equip themselves with in the new era: the ability to create cross-platform content, data-driven thinking, and understanding of digital media technology... From there, students must proactively learn more, especially about technology and practical skills.

On this occasion, students from Cuu Long University also had the opportunity to visit and experience firsthand the integrated newsroom model of Thanh Nien Newspaper, one of the largest and most reputable media organizations in Vietnam.

Upon entering the editorial office, students were introduced to the history and development of Thanh Nien Newspaper, as well as its role in social life. Representatives from the editorial office shared insights into the specific professional requirements of journalists in the digital age, from fieldwork, writing articles, editing, and video production to optimizing content across multiple platforms.

Students had the opportunity to observe the work process of the editorial team, the digital content department, and the graphics department – ​​where videos, infographics, podcasts, etc., are produced. They expressed their delight at meeting experienced journalists and listening to them share stories about their work, filled with memorable moments, pressure, but also great pride.

Nguyen Ngoc Trang Nhi, a student in the 26th cohort of the Multimedia Communication program, said: "The experience helped us better understand journalism – a profession that demands passion, courage, and quick thinking; update us on trends in journalism and communication in the digital age, especially how to build multi-platform content and how to apply AI to the creative process such as data analysis, content optimization, or supporting image and video production."

It is this "interaction" with the real working environment that helps students better understand the profession, recognize the demanding requirements of the job, and clearly define their future career development direction.

According to Dr. Dang Thi Ngoc Lan, Vice Rector of Cuu Long University, communication is a field that demands flexibility, the ability to adapt quickly to reality, and constant innovation.

"Understanding this, Cuu Long University always focuses on building training programs that are closely linked to reality, harmoniously combining theory and practice. The university always creates opportunities for students to participate in internships and practical training at press agencies, media businesses, advertising companies, and event organizers. These activities not only help students 'learn by doing' but also contribute to improving the quality of training, meeting the increasingly high demands of the labor market."

It is understood that, in order to effectively carry out media training in the new era, Cuu Long University aims to develop a media ecosystem. Specifically, this includes reviewing and updating the curriculum; training lecturers; purchasing basic equipment; strengthening cooperation with media and press agencies; and perfecting the standard digital media program.

In addition, the Media Center will be upgraded into a professional unit, producing promotional publications for the school's communication activities. The school strives to become a digital media training center in the Mekong Delta region. It aims to publish valuable media and research products.
