FIFA has opened a disciplinary investigation into Pachuca's Gustavo Cabral amid allegations that he racially abused Real Madrid's Antonio Rudiger.
"After reviewing the match report, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has initiated disciplinary proceedings against player Gustavo Cabral (CF Pachuca) in relation to an incident between him and Antonio Rudiger of Real Madrid during the FIFA Club World Cup match in Charlotte on 22 June" - FIFA announced about the incident that occurred at the end of the match between the two teams within the framework of the FIFA Club World Cup.
Rudiger was furious after the exchange of words with Argentine player Cabral and spoke to Brazilian referee Ramon Abatti Abel. Cabral, however, denied any racist behavior towards the German midfielder.

FIFA confirms investigation into Cabral's racism allegations against Rudiger
The on-field incident saw the referee make the designated non-racist gesture by crossing his arms, indicating that an investigation would be launched. Under FIFA's updated anti-racism procedures for 2024, the crossed arms gesture is the first step in a possible three-stage response to discriminatory behaviour.
"The referee made a racist gesture, but I said the same thing throughout the match: 'coward'," Cabral asserted.
When asked about the incident in the post-match press conference, Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso said: "Football has no tolerance for this, and if it happened then measures need to be taken. Antonio told us so and we believe him. The incident is currently under investigation."
Cabral, 39, spoke out after the game and said his words had been misinterpreted by Rudiger. The Argentine said he had called the Real Madrid defender a coward, using a Spanish phrase that sounds similar to a racist slur.
In Group H, Real Madrid will have their final match against RB Salzburg on June 27.
