The above information shows that the film industry in the region is gradually recovering with many optimistic signs. The most important category at the 36th Tokyo International Film Festival is Competition with 15 films participating in the competition. In the coming days, the 5-member jury will continuously review these works to choose the film that will win the highest prize of this year's festival season.
Regarding the work of the judge at the Film Festival, Chairman of the jury Wim Wenders opened the story with the press: "As Chairman of the Film Festival, that's just the title, and I'm equal to the other members of the council. This year's Film Festival is my return after more than 30 years. In the role of judge, what I look forward to most is to carefully review the 15 best selected works with my colleagues". Asked about the quality of the participating films, judge Wim Wenders added: "Each film has its own life and value, so I don't want to compare. More than 30 years ago, when I came to this Film Festival, the way of making films was different, each film was considered a special discovery , because of limited information. In this era, information is fast, media is developed, it is also a good opportunity to understand more deeply about cinematic works".

Being a member of the jury of the Film Festival, the jury members all share the same opinion that this is not only an opportunity to develop their career, but also an exciting and extremely difficult experience. As filmmaker Albert Serra - a judge from Spain said: "I find it easier to make my own films than to watch my colleagues' films and give comments and assessments about them, so this is really not an easy job for me at all".
Looking through Kishi Yoshiyuki's (Ab)normal Derise , Barbara Albert's Blind At Heart , Parviz Shahbazi's Roxana , Pema Tseden's Snow Leopard or Alexey German Jr's Air , Tomina Tetsuya's Who Were We? ... in the list of 15 films participating in the Competition category, you will immediately see the diversity of colors, storytelling languages, cultural identities... from different lands. This is a rare opportunity for cinema lovers to experience an exciting journey through each film.

Judge Zhao Tao, a famous actress in the Chinese film industry, said: "Being chosen as a judge is a personal challenge and also an opportunity for me to develop myself. The film festival is an opportunity for filmmakers to meet, share experiences, chat, and exchange about their profession and cinematic techniques. This is very important. Watching movies is also a way for me to explore life and find poetic emotions in it."
Coming to the 35th Tokyo International Film Festival as a contestant, when she was chosen as a judge for the 36th season, producer Tran Thi Bich Ngoc said proudly: "I didn't think I would be able to return to the Film Festival so quickly. I feel honored because this job helps me experience many cultural identities, discover many good stories, and at the same time feel the quality and content from many different film markets. Covid-19 also helped me realize how important it is to meet each other. I went to the cinema to watch movies and clearly saw the power of cinema. In today's era, people can easily contact and communicate with each other, but meeting each other is a different perspective, especially for young people. I came to the Film Festival to feel, learn, and develop my career to continue contributing to cinema."
