Tan Nam International Border Gate: 'Golden gateway' of the Southern key economic region

In just a few days, the Tan Nam (Tay Ninh province, Vietnam) - Meun Chey (Prey Veng province, Cambodia) international border gate pair will officially open and come into operation.

According to the plan of the People's Committee of Tay Ninh province, the opening ceremony of the Tan Nam - Meun Chey International Border Gate pair will be held on December 8, on a national scale, co-organized and chaired by Tay Ninh province (Vietnam) and Prey Veng province (Cambodia) at the Meun Chey International Border Gate (Cambodia).

In order to organize the opening ceremony of Tan Nam - Meun Chey International Border Gate pair solemnly and thoughtfully, the working delegation of Tay Ninh Provincial People's Committee and the Administration Board of Prey Veng Province (Kingdom of Cambodia) conducted a survey and bilateral talks, and agreed on the organization plan, choosing the location for the opening ceremony, the location for the ribbon cutting, the guest list, the ceremony program, the security plan... as a basis for reporting to the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and Cambodia.

The Tan Nam - Meun Chey International Border Gate pair was announced to be operational by the two provincial authorities from the end of May 2021, creating favorable conditions for import-export and immigration activities of businesses and border residents of the two countries, promoting cooperation, development, friendly exchange and contributing to improving the lives of border residents.

In October 2024, the Tan Nam International Border Gate construction project officially started construction, with the Tay Ninh Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board as the investor, with a total cost of 274 billion VND from the central budget and Tay Ninh provincial budget, including 5 main items: National gate; joint control station, square, ceremonial yard; border control station; main road of the border gate and technical infrastructure system (electricity, water, fire prevention and fighting).

Located in the Southern Key Economic Zone, Tay Ninh has a border of nearly 369 km, adjacent to three provinces of Svay Rieng, Prey Veng and Tboung Khmum of the Kingdom of Cambodia. Besides Tan Nam International Border Gate, the International Border Gates: Moc Bai, Xa Mat, Binh Hiep become the "golden doors" opening up the cross-border economic corridor.

During 309 days and nights, nearly 400 engineers, workers and officers "overcame the sun and rain", working hard day and night to complete the Tan Nam International Border Gate project today.

To speed up construction progress before August 30, 2025, engineers, workers and staff were mobilized in "3 shifts, 4 teams" to complete Tan Nam International Border Gate.

Provincial Road 791, 35.6 km long, leading to Tan Nam International Border Gate, has also been upgraded and completed by the end of 2024. This is the "lifeline" route connecting Tan Nam - Meun Chey and Xa Mat - Trapeang Phlong (Kingdom of Cambodia), forming a cross-border economic corridor.

According to Xa Mat International Border Gate Customs Branch (the management unit of Tan Nam International Border Gate), from the beginning of 2025 until now, the border gate area has received more than 9,000 vehicles passing through.

From a sparsely populated border area, up to now, the Tan Nam International Border Gate area (Tan Bien commune, Tay Ninh province) has taken on a new appearance - modern, solemn and full of aspirations.
