On the morning of December 9, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City organized a consultation workshop to develop a Resolution on the City's cultural development for the period 2026-2030, with a vision to 2045. The workshop attracted the participation of more than 150 delegates from central and local agencies, universities, experts and businesses.
The workshop aimed to perfect strategic orientations to make culture an important driving force for development of Da Nang in the new period.
Many strategic perspectives contribute to the orientation of Da Nang's cultural development
Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Ms. Truong Thi Hong Hanh, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City, affirmed that culture is always considered by Da Nang as the center of sustainable development.
In recent years, the City has achieved many remarkable results: focusing on preserving traditional culture, spreading the studious - humane - creative identity of the land; the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life" has created strong changes at the grassroots level; cultural - artistic activities and international exchanges are increasingly rich, contributing to raising the position of Da Nang on the cultural - tourism map.
The expansion of the City space after the merger helps Da Nang possess a rich heritage ecosystem, diverse cultural resources and great attraction for tourists, artists, researchers and investors. This is considered an important foundation for the City to determine a cultural development strategy on par with the economy , focusing on people, linking development with identity preservation.
Besides the positive results, Ms. Hanh also pointed out many limitations that need to be overcome: the overall cultural planning for cultural development in the new space is not yet synchronous; the preservation and promotion of heritage and traditional cultural values are still inadequate.
Besides, festival management lacks unity; cultural institutions are lacking and degraded; grassroots cultural life is not rich; digital transformation is slow; cultural human resources are not stable; cultural education and propaganda work is not deep enough...
These are issues that require innovation in thinking and awareness, breakthrough policies and appropriate investment so that culture can truly become an endogenous resource for socio-economic development and improve people's quality of life.
The Organizing Committee of the Conference said that it had received 13 presentations from experts, researchers, managers and representatives of organizations and businesses, focusing on key contents such as potential - advantages of Da Nang's cultural development; bottlenecks that need to be removed in terms of institutions and resources; solutions to effectively exploit cultural identity associated with tourism development; orientation for the development of cultural fields in the expanded city space...
The presentations agreed that building and developing Da Nang's culture and people truly becomes the "foundation", "endogenous resources", and "driving force" for the city to develop quickly and sustainably in the new era.
Developing Da Nang culture in the new era, new geographical space must start from innovation in cognitive thinking, creating breakthroughs in resources and space for cultural development, requiring harmonious handling of relationships: between culture and politics, between culture and economy, between tradition and modernity, between national and international, between elite and popular art and culture, between comprehensiveness and depth, between the level of enjoyment and the ability to supply, between real activities and in digital space.
Strategic orientation with 6 tasks and 5 key solutions
According to the Organizing Committee, the draft Resolution on Da Nang cultural development for the period 2026-2030, with a vision to 2045, has been developed with 6 tasks and 5 key groups of solutions.
In particular, many new orientations are added to meet the development requirements in the new urban space: Building a comprehensively developed Da Nang people, aiming for the goal of "5 heights"; narrowing the gap in cultural enjoyment between the East and West of the City; organizing cultural activities in a practical and effective direction, focusing on the grassroots and people as the center;
At the same time, orient the development of cultural industry and creative economy on the basis of digital culture to become a new driving force for economic growth; use a number of words, names, and products that represent Da Nang's identity in the new period such as: "Da Nang Impression", "City of Heritage - Creativity - Identity", "Model of Cultural and Creative Industrial Zones and Complexes"...
In addition, the Workshop also recorded many important proposals from experts, notably the group of solutions for building political culture by Dr. Vu Dinh Anh (Regional Political Academy III): perfecting political culture institutions; promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle; promoting the exemplary role of cadres and party members; accelerating the application of technology and digital transformation in state management to build a transparent, modern and effective administration.
According to the Organizing Committee, the results obtained from the Workshop will be an important basis for continuing to perfect and advise the City Party Committee to issue a Resolution on the development of Da Nang culture in the 2026-2030 period, with a vision to 2045.
This is seen as a strategic step to transform Da Nang into an eco-smart city, an international financial center, an innovation hub, an industrial and logistics center, and a livable cultural and tourist city of regional significance in Asia by 2045.
