Da Nang hopes Japanese businesses will increase cooperation and investment in many fields.

On the afternoon of November 3 in Da Nang, comrade Le Ngoc Quang, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee, had a meeting with Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Ito Naoki.

Comrade Le Ngoc Quang hopes that the Ambassador will continue to pay attention and support as a bridge to promote and introduce Japanese localities and enterprises to survey and promote cooperation with Da Nang in the fields of trade and investment, share experiences in building free trade zones and financial centers, and promote cultural and tourism exchange activities with Japanese localities.

At the reception, Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Ito Naoki expressed his deep condolences to the government and people of Da Nang city for the heavy damage caused by floods in recent days. The Ambassador hoped that with timely support from the Vietnamese Government , timely intervention of local authorities, relevant departments, branches and units, people's lives would soon be stabilized as soon as possible.

The Japanese Ambassador suggested that Da Nang city continue to support the independent organization of the two activities: the Vietnam-Japan Festival and the Hoi An-Japan Cultural Exchange Program.

Speaking at the reception, Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee Le Ngoc Quang expressed his pleasure to welcome Mr. ITO Naoki, Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam, to visit Da Nang city.

Thank you to the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam for actively supporting cooperation activities between Da Nang and Japanese localities and partners in recent times, especially for actively sponsoring and supporting projects funded by the Japanese Government's Grassroots Grant Aid Program to be successfully and effectively implemented.

At the same time, he shared with Ambassador ITO Naoki about the complicated flood situation, causing great damage to Da Nang city, including Hoi An ancient town - a world cultural heritage and a place marking the diplomatic relationship, cooperation and friendship between the two countries and the two peoples of Vietnam and Japan.

Informing the Ambassador about some new points about the socio-economic situation of Da Nang city, comrade Le Ngoc Quang said: Implementing the policy of the Central Government, on July 1, Da Nang city was established on the basis of arranging and merging Da Nang city and Quang Nam province, creating a new space with many opportunities and advantages for breakthrough development.

After the merger, Da Nang city has an area of ​​nearly 12,000 km2 , a population of more than 3 million people; has Nam Giang international border gate, 2 international airports; 4 seaports; 2 world cultural heritages: Hoi An ancient town and My Son sanctuary; a system of high-tech zones, open economic zones, concentrated information technology zones, and industrial parks with complete and synchronous investment.

In particular, in recent times, Da Nang city has received attention from the Central Government, issuing many unique, breakthrough mechanisms and policies that have no precedent in Vietnam such as the International Financial Center and Free Trade Zone. This is a favorable condition for Da Nang to continue to develop strongly in the coming time.

Socio-economic activities in the city have developed steadily, contributing to promoting the city's economic growth, aiming for double-digit growth in 2025. Social security goals have been maintained and people's lives have been guaranteed. The economic structure of Da Nang city continues to shift in the right direction.

Cultural exchange activities between the city and Japanese localities took place vigorously. In particular, the Vietnam-Japan Festival and the annual Hoi An-Japan Cultural Exchange Program were held in Da Nang city and Hoi An with many important and meaningful activities, contributing to strengthening the Da Nang-Japan cooperative relationship.

The Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee acknowledged and highly appreciated these two activities, and thanked the Embassy for its participation and coordination in many past events.

Thank you personally, Ambassador ITO Naoki, for taking the time to attend the Vietnam-Japan Festival and accompanying events within the framework of the Festival, which have actively contributed to the friendly and cooperative relationship between Da Nang city and Japanese partners in particular, and between Vietnam and Japan in general; Regarding proposals and recommendations, we will direct the competent authorities to coordinate with relevant units of the Japanese side to review, research and make appropriate proposals.

Currently, Da Nang has signed a memorandum of understanding to establish official friendship and cooperation relations with 6 Japanese localities, including: Kawasaki city, Sakai city, Yokohama city, Kisarazu city; Nagasaki province and Kinokawa city. Japan is the leading country in terms of registered investment capital in Da Nang city with more than 1.28 billion USD for 280 projects. Japan is a key market for Da Nang tourism with a stable growth in visitors and is always in the Top 10 international visitor markets to Da Nang. In the first 9 months of 2025, the total number of Japanese visitors to Da Nang reached 239 thousand, accounting for 4.2% of international visitors, ranking 7th in the international market in Da Nang.
