On the afternoon of September 9, Head of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Da Nang City, Dang Ngoc Son, said that Da Nang City currently has 9 communes and wards including Phuoc Tra, Phuoc Hiep, Tra Doc, Phu Ninh, Nam Tra My, Tra Tan, Dong Giang, Tra My and Lien Chieu Ward with African swine fever epidemic that has passed 21 days but no new cases of the disease have arisen.
According to regulations, any locality that previously had an African swine fever epidemic but after 21 days, no new cases arise, that locality is considered to be free of the epidemic.
In addition to the communes and wards that have not had any new cases of African swine fever in pigs for 21 days, Da Nang city has the following communes and wards: Hoa Khanh ward for 20 days, Tam My commune for 19 days, Song Kon commune for 17 days, Nui Thanh commune, Kham Duc commune for 16 days and Hoa Vang commune for 15 days without any new cases of African swine fever in pigs.
Up to now, Da Nang city has 16 localities that have declared an epidemic of African swine fever, including Xuan Phu Commune (announced on July 16), Phu Thuan (July 18), Tra My (July 24), Que Son Trung (July 29), Son Cam Ha (July 29), An Thang (July 30), Phuoc Tra (July 31), Dien Ban Tay (July 30), Tra Doc (August 4), Que Phuoc (August 5), Thanh My (August 5), Tra Tan (August 7), Tay Ho (August 7), Nam Giang (August 11), Hoa Tien (August 12), La Ee.
As of September 9, the total number of sick pigs that had to be destroyed was 30,928, with a destroyed weight of more than 1 million kg.
According to the Head of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Da Nang City, Dang Ngoc Son, to prevent and control African swine fever, the Department of Agriculture of Da Nang City has provided 12,975 liters of chemicals to the communes of Xuan Phu, Thang Truong, Quang Phu, Tien Phuoc, Que Son, Que Son Trung, Song Kon, and Que Phuoc.
On the other hand, due to the complicated developments of the epidemic, the Department of Agriculture of Da Nang City assigned staff to monitor and guide localities in handling sick pigs according to regulations, and instruct farmers on mechanical sanitation, collection of manure and garbage, composting or burning.
At the same time, organize environmental sanitation and disinfection in areas with sick pigs; instruct farmers to apply biosafety measures, and only restock when ensuring the prescribed conditions./.
