Hundreds of scientific studies discuss infections in orthopedic trauma

Nearly 200 scientific reports in the field of orthopedic trauma were presented and discussed by experts at the scientific conference with the theme 'Infection in orthopedic trauma', held in Can Tho.

On October 25th, in Can Tho City, the Vietnam Orthopedic Trauma Association (VOA), in collaboration with Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, hosted the official presentation of the 22nd annual scientific conference (VOA 2025) with the theme "Infections in Orthopedic Trauma: Past, Present, and Future".

The conference gathered nearly 200 scientific reports and was divided into 7 specialized reporting halls. Doctors, nurses and technicians in the field of orthopedic trauma exchanged and shared experiences, updated new professional and technical advances. Thereby improving the effectiveness in prevention, treatment and rehabilitation for patients.

Professor and Doctor Nguyen Trung Kien, Rector of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, believes that infection in orthopedic trauma is a practical topic that receives much attention. This is because infection during surgery is always a major challenge, directly affecting treatment outcomes and the quality of life of patients.

With hundreds of in-depth reports, the conference serves as a prestigious scientific forum for experts to exchange ideas, open up research directions and practical solutions to enhance control over anatomical factors, innovate treatment methods, and optimize safe surgical procedures. It is even more significant as the conference coincides with the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Orthopedic Trauma Association (2005-2025), a society that is steadily developing, integrating, and expanding internationally.

Previously, on October 24, the conference opened a continuing education (CME) course, including 3 specialized surgeries: arthroscopic shoulder rotator cuff repair, cruciate ligament reconstruction, and total hip replacement. The surgeries were performed under the guidance and support of leading experts at home and abroad, creating a valuable opportunity for students to update modern techniques and improve their clinical practice skills.
