In 2026, the city plans to achieve a total product increase of 10 - 10.5% and an average GRDP per capita of at least over 115 million VND/year; export turnover, services and foreign currency revenue increase by 11% compared to 2025; average income per capita reaches at least nearly 6 million VND/person/month. According to the report of Can Tho City People's Committee, in 2025, some targets will meet the resolution such as current GRDP value, economic structure, social housing implementation, rate of students attending school at the right age, rate of trained workers, labor productivity value, poverty reduction rate, health insurance coverage rate. Some targets have not met the resolution such as: Total social development investment capital, urbanization rate, rate of households provided with clean water in urban areas.
In recent times, Can Tho's economy has faced many limitations and difficulties, causing the growth rate to not reach the set target and uneven development among sectors. Although the processing and manufacturing industry accounts for a high proportion, businesses still face challenges in terms of market and high inventory.
