On March 29th, IDECAF Theatre released promotional images for its first historical Vietnamese play, a project invested in by the brand. The story is set in 1820, when Le Van Duyet was appointed Governor-General of Gia Dinh for the second time by King Minh Mang.
Dai Nghia, Dinh Toan, and My Duyen create stunning costumes for the play "Duke Le Van Duyet".
With his strictness, integrity, and talent for winning people's hearts, General Le Van Duyet continued the task of pacifying the six southern provinces of Vietnam. His aspiration was to transform this new land into a prosperous and peaceful place, where the people lived in comfort and wealth.
In his final years in Gia Dinh, one of the most profound legacies of the Governor-General's relationship with the people of Gia Dinh was the trial of Huynh Cong Ly, the Deputy Governor-General of Gia Dinh. Huynh Cong Ly abused his power to oppress innocent people and enrich himself, causing widespread public discontent. After investigating the matter, General Le Van Duyet, despite his deep concern, decided to execute Huynh Cong Ly first and report later.

It was this assertiveness that caused animosity with the court. After his death, Emperor Minh Mạng used the rebellion of Lê Văn Khôi, the adopted son of General Lê Văn Duyệt, to condemn him and sentence him to nine death penalties.
His tomb was razed to the ground and he was only pardoned during the reign of Emperor Tu Duc. But for the people of Gia Dinh, the merits and the love for the people like his own children of the Left General will forever be remembered and passed down to this day.
The play explores the story of General Le Van Duyet's punishment of Huynh Cong Ly, thereby portraying the noble image of a historical figure who was closely associated with the glorious history of Saigon - Gia Dinh.
