In a statement posted on the Russian Embassy's Telegram page, Russian Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov said: "We see this as another attempt by the US administration to counter growing criticism regarding the failure of Washington's restrictive policy.
It is obvious that even native Russophobics see that it is impossible to undermine Russia's economy and technological sovereignty . This fact has been confirmed, in particular, by experts from the World Bank (WB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF)".
Mr. Antonov also said that Russia is effectively repelling "Western attacks on the Russian economy ", noting that this allows Russians to look to the future with confidence.
Previously, on August 11, the US Treasury Department blacklisted Russian businessmen Mikhail Fridman, Pyotr Aven, German Khan and Alexey Kuzmichev as well as the Association of Russian Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.

British intelligence: Russia may replace troops in Zaporizhzhia
In another development, Ukrinform quoted British intelligence sources as saying that Russia may have redeployed airborne troops from the Kherson region to the Orikhiv area of the Zaporizhzhia region, where fierce battles are taking place.
The British Ministry of Defense said this in an intelligence update published on Twitter (X).
“Russia has likely redeployed airborne troops from the Kherson region to the hotly contested Orikhiv region. The Russian 58th Combined Arms Corps has been facing Ukrainian counterattacks since June 4,” the update said.
British intelligence noted that on July 11, the then commander of this corps was dismissed, possibly in part because he insisted that his soldiers needed rest (after a long period of fighting).
According to British intelligence, reports indicate that the 70th and 71st Motor Rifle Regiments of the Russian 58th Army have suffered particularly heavy losses and heavy fighting on the front line. It is possible that the arrival of airborne forces will finally allow the troops of these regiments to withdraw for rest and recuperation.
