In the 2020-2025 term, the Party Committee of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department has led the unit to successfully complete the goals and tasks set out in the Resolution of the 2nd Congress, term 2020-2025. In particular, it has well performed the strategic advisory function for the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense , the Party and the State on participating in the United Nations (UN) peacekeeping activities, gradually expanding the scale and developing the force, actively deploying new types of units and high-level positions, recruitment positions to work at the UN Headquarters and gradually perfecting the legal corridor for participating in the UN peacekeeping activities.

The quality of the management of the area, command and operation of Vietnamese forces participating in UN peacekeeping activities at the missions has been improved, ensuring the safety of people, weapons, equipment and completing well the tasks assigned by the UN and the Ministry of National Defense. Along with that, the training work ensures quality, meeting the criteria of the UN. Successfully organized 2 multilateral and bilateral exercises on UN peacekeeping, highly appreciated by the international community.

International cooperation in the field of peacekeeping operations has been expanded both bilaterally and multilaterally. The propaganda work on participation in UN peacekeeping operations has achieved good results, contributing to enhancing the position and prestige of Vietnam. Building a comprehensively strong Department that is "exemplary and typical", a clean and strong Party organization, contributing practically to building the Army, consolidating national defense and protecting the Fatherland.

In the coming term, the Party Committee of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department determines to continue to innovate, improve the quality of training, promote the development and application of military science and technology, innovation and digital transformation to meet the requirements of tasks in the new situation. Continue to affirm that the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department is a UN peacekeeping training center, striving to have at least 1 to 2 international training courses chaired by Vietnam recognized by the UN. Complete the Law on Participation in the UN Peacekeeping Force and submit it to the National Assembly for approval.

In his speech, Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan requested that the Party Committee of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department focus on leading and directing staff work, proposing expansion of areas, fields, forms and scale of forces participating in UN peacekeeping activities in the coming time. It is necessary to carry out well the work of selecting, training and fostering cadres, at the same time, it is necessary to have policies to attract, treat appropriately, and improve the quality of cadres and officers participating in UN peacekeeping activities, especially creating a source of human resources to apply for positions at the UN Headquarters as well as command positions at missions.

Senior Lieutenant General Phung Si Tan noted that the Party Committee of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department should lead and direct the completion and submission to the National Assembly for approval of the Law on Participation in the UN Peacekeeping Force at the 9th session. At the same time, it is necessary to strengthen and expand international cooperation, attract resources and support in the preparation and deployment of Vietnam's UN Peacekeeping Force.
