A 5th grade student in Vinh Truong ward, Nha Trang city ( Khanh Hoa ) was confirmed dead due to suspected food poisoning. At the same time, many primary and secondary school students in the ward showed signs of food poisoning.
On the morning of April 5, Nha Trang City Police are coordinating with Vinh Truong Ward People's Committee and related units to verify and take initial statements from a number of fast food establishments in the ward.
Authorities are continuing to investigate and determine the cause of the child's death. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility that the child suffered from medical conditions before his death.
Initial information, this morning, student Đ.NBT, class 5/4, Vinh Truong Primary School, was in class when he showed symptoms of fatigue. Immediately after that, the teacher and the school called an ambulance to take student T. to the hospital. However, student T. died on the way.
The family said that before he died, the child ate sushi and chicken rice at an outside restaurant.
Vinh Truong Ward People's Committee recorded a number of primary and secondary school students showing symptoms of suspected food poisoning.
After information about the student’s death was spread online, the same morning, a representative of the Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee Office said that the information being spread on social media about the death due to food poisoning was inaccurate. The province is compiling information to issue an official press release.
Khanh Hoa Department of Health said that Khanh Hoa General Hospital is coordinating with relevant agencies to conduct tests to find the cause of T.'s death, so it is not yet possible to confirm the cause of the patient's death.
