Free training in cultural technology for many students in Thua Thien Hue

On May 25th, the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Information Technology Center (HueCIT) announced the opening of a free training course on Culture Technology using VR 360 technology. This activity is part of the cooperation in training on VR-360 digitalization and photogrammetry between HueCIT and PoSTMEDIA Co., Ltd. (South Korea).

PoSTMEDIA is an IT company based in Seoul, South Korea, operating in the New Media sector since 1993. As a company connecting culture and technology, PoSTMEDIA is a pioneer in the field of Cultural Technology with achievements in many large-scale projects. Several of its technologies have been patented.

The trainees are participating in a training course on cultural technology.

PoSTMEDIA creates and designs digital cultural content, provides system integration (SI) services and professional IT consulting, aiming to develop and preserve cultural values. Simultaneously, it inspires curiosity and broadens people's worldviews through digital media technology.

In Thua Thien Hue province, a Culture Technology training course using 360 VR technology took place from May 24-26, 2024. The course focused on helping learners understand the general process of VR content production, capturing and editing 360-degree panoramic photos, and subsequently producing 360-degree VR content that utilizes local cultural heritage.

The main instructor for the training course is Mr. Kim Jae Seung – an expert in VR360 video production and photography from South Korea; the teaching assistants are technical specialists from South Korea, along with an interpreter and more than 20 trainees. These include university students majoring in fine arts and media; communication officers and specialists; information technology (IT) specialists from the Department of Information and Communications, the Department of Tourism, HueCIT; and some individuals interested in or working in fields related to digitalization and heritage digitization.

Mr. Kim Jae Seung, an expert in VR360 video production and photography from South Korea, will be directly training the students.

Through this course, participants will be equipped with knowledge of the principles and techniques of digitizing specimens, as well as practical experience and skills to achieve the highest efficiency and quality, along with 360VR/Photography techniques to create perfect digitized products.

Dr. Do Xuan Huyen, Head of the Training and Development Department (HueCIT), stated that this is the only digitalization training program organized by HueCIT in cooperation with PostMEDIA in Thua Thien Hue province, providing free training to learners on basic to advanced knowledge of digitalization and heritage digitization.

Following the successful conclusion of the Cultural Technology Training Course using photogrammetry techniques, held in April 2024, participants in that course are continuing their studies with a 360VR course, hoping to gain further access to technology and expertise from Korean specialists to enhance their knowledge of heritage digitization in a systematic and comprehensive manner.

"We hope that through this training program, we will contribute to training human resources capable of contributing to the field of cultural technology and other fields in Thua Thien Hue in the future," emphasized Dr. Do Xuan Huyen.
