Currently, Quang Ninh province is implementing many solutions to revive nearly 120,000 hectares of forests of all kinds destroyed by storm Yagi, including nearly 100,000 hectares of planted forests, with an estimated damage of about VND 6,400 billion, affecting the livelihoods of over 22,000 households. The Provincial People's Committee issued Official Dispatch No. 2832/UBND-KTTC dated October 1, 2024 on launching a peak period to support forest clearance, sanitation, collection and utilization of forest products in the forest area damaged by storm No. 3.
Acacia forests were broken and bare after storm Yagi. Households exploiting acacia and eucalyptus trees were broken by storms. Thin Ha wood purchasing workshop, Minh Thanh commune, Quang Yen town expands to purchase wood broken in the storm from forest growers. Enterprises increase exports of wood materials at Cai Lan port. Wood chip export area is bustling with equipment and vehicles. Many acacia purchasing businesses reflect that because the acacia trees are young, the number of trees is not old enough to be exploited, and the powder ratio is not enough, but according to the province's policy, accompanying farmers, businesses also strengthen negotiations with partners to purchase wood at the highest price. According to the provisions of Decree 02/2017/ND-CP of the Government and Decision 1568/2017/QD-UBND of the Provincial People's Committee, planted forests of households and individuals that are damaged by over 70% will be supported with 4 million VND/ha and forests that are damaged by 30-70% will be supported with 2 million VND/ha. The competent authorities of Quang Ninh province are closely following the Draft Decree regulating the liquidation of planted forests of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to guide forest owners to prepare records and determine the damage to planted forests from the state budget and replacement planted forests. The estimated support budget under this regulation in Quang Ninh is about 233 billion VND. Mong Cai City Forest Protection Department has visited forest owners to propagate forest fire prevention and control management measures and the province's support policies according to Resolution No. 37/2024/NQ-HDND of the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Council stipulating a number of specific policies to encourage sustainable forestry development in the area.
