Vietnamese-German University

The university uses TestAS (Test for Academic Studies) scores for admission, which includes a core test and a subject-specific test. This test assesses the academic aptitude of international students in Germany.

In addition, candidates must take an English test (also known as the "onSET" test) - a computer-based test lasting approximately 40 minutes. Candidates are exempt from the English test if they have an IELTS 5.0 or TOEFL iBT 42 or higher; achieved a score of 7.5 in English in the high school graduation exam; are from countries where English is the official language; or have graduated from international high school programs where the language of instruction and testing is English.

Schools that organize aptitude and thinking assessment exams for entrance testing all affirm that candidates do not need to attend cram schools; instead, they should review the knowledge learned in the high school curriculum, especially the knowledge from grade 12.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training, in 2022, universities allocated more than 30,000 admission slots based on scores from aptitude and thinking skills assessment exams. The enrollment rate through this method accounted for approximately 2% of the total number of students admitted through all methods.

Experts predict that aptitude and critical thinking assessment exams will become larger in scale and used by more schools by 2025 – when the high school graduation exam changes to align with the new general education curriculum.
