Hai Van Quan and An Lang relics will open to visitors from August 2024

Accordingly, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City have agreed on a plan to open Hai Van Quan to visitors for free from August 1, 2024 until a suitable ticket price list for this relic is agreed upon.

Hai Van Quan relic was built during the Tran Dynasty and restored under King Minh Mang (1826) as a defensive pass. The structure is located at an altitude of 490m above sea level on the border between Lang Co town, Phu Loc district, Thua Thien Hue province and Hoa Hiep Bac ward, Lien Chieu district, Da Nang city.

This is a relic with many historical and architectural values, not only an important defensive position of the southern gateway of Hue Citadel but also a famous scenic spot of Vietnam. On April 14, 2017, Hai Van Quan relic was ranked as a National Monument (historical and architectural relic type) by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Previously, in December 2021, the project to preserve, restore and promote the value of Hai Van Quan relic was started to preserve and promote the value of national historical and cultural relics, contributing to the socio-economic development of Thua Thien Hue province and Da Nang city.

The project is invested by the Hue Monuments Conservation Center with a total investment of more than 42 billion VND from the Da Nang City budget (50%) and Thua Thien Hue province budget (50%). Up to now, the restoration of Hai Van Quan relic has been completed and is ready to open to visitors.

According to the leader of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, from August 1, 2024, the unit will open to visitors the An Lang relic. Located in An Cuu ward, Hue city, the An Lang relic was built in 1889 and is currently the burial place of three kings Duc Duc, Thanh Thai and Duy Tan.

Compared to other tombs of the Nguyen Dynasty kings, An Lang has a simple and modest architecture. However, it still carries the typical features of Nguyen Dynasty architecture. This work has been recognized as a National Monument (artistic architectural type) according to Decision No. 2890-VH/QD dated September 27, 1997 of the Ministry of Culture and Information (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism).

Previously, in 2019, the entire architectural system of this relic was restored with a total investment of more than 40 billion VND.
