Approximately 3,000 candidates took the entrance exam for 10th grade at the High School for the Gifted, Ho Chi Minh City National University, at the end of May, with a total enrollment quota of 595 students. Thus, the entrance score for the specialized chemistry class at the District 5 campus was the highest, at 33.0 points. Following that, the specialized English class (District 5 campus) had the second highest entrance score with 31.6 points, and the specialized mathematics class (District 5 campus) had the third highest entrance score with 30.7 points...
It is known that at campus 1 (153 Nguyen Chi Thanh, District 5, Ho Chi Minh City), the school will enroll 350 students, including 10 specialized classes: mathematics (2 classes), computer science (2 classes), physics (1 class), chemistry (1 class), biology (1 class), English (2 classes), and literature (1 class). Each class will have no more than 35 students.
Specialized classes at the District 5 campus will focus on in-depth knowledge of the subject, enhancing logical thinking skills, combined with STEAM education activities, experiential learning, and career guidance to help students become experts in a specific field related to the subject.
At the Thu Duc campus (Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City urban area), the school will enroll 245 students; including 7 specialized classes focusing on interdisciplinary fields: mathematics-interdisciplinary (1 class), physics-interdisciplinary (1 class), chemistry-interdisciplinary (1 class), biology-interdisciplinary (1 class), English-interdisciplinary (2 classes), and literature-interdisciplinary (1 class). Each class will have no more than 35 students.
The specialized classes in Mathematics-Language, Physics-Language, Chemistry-Language, Biology-Language, English-Language, and Literature-Language at the Thu Duc campus will focus on developing interdisciplinary thinking skills with a foundation in their respective subjects to solve problems in the fields of natural sciences and technology and social sciences.
These include natural sciences, life sciences, computer science, business and management, technology, engineering, languages, culture, economics, politics , and sociology, combined with experiential activities to guide relevant career paths.
According to the announcement from the Gifted High School, the tuition fee for 10th grade students enrolling in 2023 is 12,573,000 VND/academic year (1,397,000 VND/month, with the academic year comprising 9 months). Tuition fees for subsequent years will increase according to government regulations (not exceeding 7.5%).
The increase in tuition fees compared to previous years is being implemented by the High School for the Gifted as part of its financial autonomy roadmap, alongside numerous opportunities for talent-supported scholarships and academic support scholarships while studying at the school and universities, especially member universities of the National University. The school will build financial resources to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds to excel in their studies, provide incentive scholarships according to regulations, and offer long-term interest-free loans so that parents and students can focus on their studies with peace of mind.
