Minister of Education notes the grading of high school graduation exams

TPO - Minister Nguyen Kim Son said that the Ministry of Education and Training reminded localities that after the exam period ends, the exam marking stage will be carried out to ensure progress in the context of merger.

During the 2025 High School Graduation Examination, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son inspected the examination centers at Hai Ba Trung High School and Tran Phu High School in Vinh Phuc province. A special feature of this year's exam is the first-ever reform of the examination method, with significant changes in the structure and format of the questions. Particularly noteworthy is the Literature subject, which for the first time used materials entirely outside of the textbook.

At the exam site, Mr. Son asked the candidates before the exam: "What do you think of the new exam material?" A candidate taking the exam at Hai Ba Trung High School ( Vinh Phuc ) confidently said: "I really like that the exam doesn't use material from the textbook because it allows for free creativity and isn't confined to a rigid framework or old patterns like before."

Many candidates were excited and felt "lucky" to receive the Minister's blessing: "Do well on the exam, achieve very good results."

Minister Nguyen Kim Son encouraged candidates during this year's exam in Vinh Phuc province.

Speaking to reporters, Minister Nguyen Kim Son said that examination centers nationwide have organized the exam. The Ministry of Education and Training has inspected many localities and assessed that the preparation of examination centers is thorough and meets the requirements and plan. Given the nature, characteristics, and scale of this year's exam, the Ministry of Education and Training attaches importance to all stages, from training and guidance materials to directives issued to localities.

“During the examination period, the Ministry of Education and Training always reminds invigilators and teachers to resolutely and fully implement all regulations and strictly adhere to the requirements of the examination rules. This is of paramount importance to ensure that the examination takes place safely and seriously,” Mr. Son said.

Mr. Son emphasized that this year's exam is "special" for several reasons, including the simultaneous organization of exams for both students studying under the 2018 General Education Program and the 2006 General Education Program. Therefore, the question setting and grading will be carefully calculated to ensure balance between different subject combinations and admission blocks. Regarding the grading process, the grading method will correspond to the question setting method.

Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son noted that after the exam concludes, the grading process will be conducted in the context of mergers. For example, the exam might be taking place in Vinh Phuc, but the grading will be done in Phu Tho . With a larger number of subjects and more exam papers, the process will be more complex, therefore a specific plan is necessary.

According to Mr. Nguyen Phu Son, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Vinh Phuc province, this year the locality has nearly 17,000 candidates registered to take the exam, with 30 examination centers and 705 examination rooms. Facilities have been thoroughly prepared and reviewed before the exam. The Department has publicized a hotline to promptly answer questions from candidates and parents.

Regarding the exam grading process, the Director of the Department of Education and Training of Vinh Phuc province stated that a two-tiered government model will be implemented from July 1st. However, the locality has a plan to ensure that the progress and quality of exam grading are not affected.

"Previously, Vinh Phuc province only had one examination board and one grading board. After merging with Hoa Binh and Phu Tho provinces, each province will have its own grading subcommittee, while still maintaining the previous committees for assigning codes and conducting reviews. The provinces have developed detailed plans; the only change is the restructuring of the Examination Steering Committee to oversee the overall work," said Mr. Nguyen Phu Son.

On June 28th, the examination boards began the grading process.

The exam results are expected to be announced to candidates at 8:00 AM on July 16th.
