The special features of the K23 sniper uniform are highly appreciated by the Minister of Defense.

At the Exhibition of National Achievements on the 80th Anniversary of the Journey of Independence - Freedom - Happiness (Dong Anh Commune, Hanoi), Factory Z176 (General Department of Defense Industry) impressed with a series of advanced military equipment and technology products.

Accordingly, Z176 not only showcased familiar products such as camouflage netting and special forces backpacks, but also created a big surprise with an impressive outdoor performance. The highlight was the "invisibility" demonstration of a soldier in front of the public.

On the afternoon of September 13th, General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense , also inspected the exhibition booth of Factory Z176.

Here, General Phan Van Giang highly appreciated the products researched, designed, and manufactured by the factory, which are suitable and meet the needs of the army. The General paid particular attention to the sniper uniforms and the K23 equipment vests. In addition, General Phan Van Giang also suggested adding some accessories for the military uniforms to ensure flexibility and mobility.

The uniform helps soldiers become "invisible".

According to the staff at the exhibition, the sniper uniform was designed based on the principle of breaking away from contours and blending into the environment.

It's not just a layer of fabric, but a sophisticated multi-layered system, including: a base mesh (a lightweight, breathable mesh layer that forms the main frame for the entire garment; this mesh helps secure camouflage materials while distributing weight, allowing the soldier to easily lie still in a confined space for extended periods); and thousands of technical fabric strips in colors suitable for the combat environment (in forests, mountains, islands, etc.).

Technical fabric strips were attached to the mesh base, helping snipers to conceal themselves from reconnaissance equipment day and night.

When wearing this uniform, the soldier is not simply "hiding," but "disappearing." They become part of the grass, a motionless bush, completely invisible to the enemy's "sight," allowing them to carry out observation and target tracking missions in the most secretive way possible.

Meanwhile, low-emissivity clothing is considered the art of stealth against technology. With the development of advanced day and night surveillance equipment such as thermal imaging cameras and night vision scopes, camouflage by the naked eye will no longer be effective. The thermal radiation emitted from the human body is the clearest identifying sign.

With thermal sensors, even very small temperature differences can create color distortions. On the other hand, for counter-terrorism or special forces reconnaissance units, in addition to camouflage, they must also perform operational tasks such as agile and rapid movement or combat climbing.

Faced with this challenge, low-emissivity clothing was developed, representing a significant advancement in camouflage technology. This clothing works on the principle of reducing the emissivity of military uniforms, thereby reducing the thermal radiation energy emitted by soldiers. Special materials such as low-emissivity and infrared coatings are integrated into the fabric.

Thanks to these technologies, low-emission suits make soldiers invisible to the naked eye and to the "eyes" of technology, ensuring they can operate effectively in a variety of combat environments.

K23 armor - a breakthrough from Z176 Factory

According to the tour guide, in the context of increasingly modern weapons and equipment, soldiers have to carry a lot of military supplies and equipment such as shovels, water bottles, ammunition boxes, grenades, daggers, bulletproof vests, etc. This weight is not only heavy but also cumbersome, reducing mobility and flexibility - vital elements for an infantry soldier.

In that context, the Ministry of Defense leadership assigned Factory Z176 the task of fundamentally changing the carrying capacity of the troops, initially equipping them with the STV-380 rifle with the SPL-40 grenade launcher.

The goal was not just to create a suit, but an integrated system, a "second body" for the soldier, helping them to be lighter, faster, and stronger in training and combat readiness.

Immediately after receiving their assignment, the Z176 engineers began working on their mission. They studied military uniform designs from various countries, applying specialized 3D design technology and the most advanced materials.

Every detail was meticulously calculated: the placement of STV magazines, SPL-40 ammunition, grenades, daggers, communication equipment, even the pouches for the water bottle, gas mask, and raincoat. The jacket was designed to scientifically distribute weight, hugging the body closely to ensure maximum flexibility.

"When the first prototype was created, it had to undergo the most rigorous testing, from real-world training units to specialized laboratories."

"The K23 vest has passed tests for salt spray resistance, UV aging, and especially a test on a simulated recoil test machine with 10,000 marches and a load of 20 kg," the officer said, adding that in addition to the above functions, the K23 vest can also be fitted with 4 bulletproof armor plates (2 hard armor plates, 2 soft armor plates) and many other related equipment.

According to the official, the K23 uniform was approved by the Ministry of National Defense in November 2023.
