Highlights of tourism links on the 'Central Heritage Road'

This is one of the activities commemorating the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Da Nang Travel Association (Da Nang Tourism Association).

Mr. Ha Van Sieu, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, affirmed that Quang Nam , Da Nang, and Thua Thien - Hue have been and continue to be major tourism centers nationwide, with a long tradition and, in particular, a bright spot in collaborative activities.

Specifically, during the period 2016-2019, these three central provinces and cities experienced impressive growth and emerged as a new tourist destination in Vietnam and Asia, attracting 20-25 million tourists per year.

Central Vietnam is a new destination for events and festivals in Vietnamese tourism.

The collaboration among the three localities has clearly demonstrated its effectiveness and complemented each other's potential strengths and advantages, especially since the "Central Vietnam Heritage Route" passes through these three localities with a vast system of UNESCO-recognized World Heritage sites.

With convenient transportation systems, major events and festivals in these three provinces and cities attract a large number of tourists, such as the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival, the Hue Festival, and the Quang Nam Heritage Tour…

"However, tourism in the three provinces and cities still faces many limitations in investment, market development, tourism promotion, and tourism products and services that are not commensurate with their potential. There is a need for increased linkages to enhance competitiveness. There is also a lack of service infrastructure and high-quality accommodation facilities, affecting the promotion of events and festivals," said Mr. Ha Van Sieu.

The Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration also suggested that the provinces and cities of Quang Nam, Da Nang, and Thua Thien Hue should select a few traditional festivals and events of significant importance and value to invest in unique and attractive cultural, religious, and spiritual tourism products.

Sharing the same view, Mr. Vu The Binh, Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association, affirmed that recent international events such as APEC, the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival, the Hue Festival, the Quang Nam Heritage Festival... have made Central Vietnam the MICE tourism hub of the country.

To ensure that the three provinces and cities continue to play a key role in attracting new tourists nationwide, Mr. Cao Tri Dung, Chairman of the Da Nang Tourism Association, suggested that each locality should continue to promote events and festivals, invest in them to become strong destination products, and make the best use of the value of festivals. At the same time, they should adjust existing coordination regulations more effectively, such as unifying event and festival schedules to avoid overlaps, allowing tourists and businesses to be more proactive in their visits and exploitation.
