Workers' support
Mr. Tran Van Han, Binh Nguyen commune, has worked for a construction company in Hanoi for many years; due to personal reasons, in early June 2025, Mr. Han decided to quit his job. While he had not found a new job, he went to the Hung Yen Employment Service Center (Department of Home Affairs) to complete procedures to receive unemployment insurance. As the breadwinner in the family, Mr. Han was very worried when he lost his job. Mr. Han said: First, I will complete procedures to receive unemployment insurance to have funds to take care of my family. Based on the contribution level, I will receive a subsidy of over 3.2 million VND/month. There are so many expenses in daily life, so this is really a lifeline to help my family temporarily overcome this difficult period.
Ms. Pham Thi Nhien, Nam Tien Hung commune has been receiving unemployment insurance for 2 months. According to regulations, every month she must go to Hung Yen Employment Service Center to report her work status. Through conversation, it was learned that Ms. Nhien used to work as a car wiper assembly worker for a company in Thai Binh ward. However, due to inconvenient commute, she quit her job. During this time, Ms. Nhien completed procedures to receive unemployment insurance with a support level of 2.8 million VND/month. This is a very important financial source for her to solve her immediate difficulties.
It can be seen that cases like Mr. Han and Ms. Nhien have temporarily left the job market for many different reasons. They are all pillars of the family, so when they no longer have a steady monthly income, life will be very difficult. In that situation, unemployment insurance is really a support for them to temporarily stabilize their lives, a stepping stone to consider a further path. According to Mr. Pham Quang Thanh, Deputy Director of Hung Yen Employment Service Center: Unemployment insurance helps workers temporarily stabilize their lives when they unfortunately lose their jobs. On average, each year, we receive and process about 10,000 to 12,000 applications for unemployment insurance. That number is not just a simple statistic but a psychological support, a buoy to help workers not sink when falling out of the cycle of the job market.
Workers need to return to the job market as soon as possible.
Although unemployment insurance partially compensates for workers' income when they lose their jobs, in the long run, workers need to return to the labor market because this is the foundation for them to have a job and a sustainable income. For workers who come to apply for unemployment insurance, Hung Yen Employment Service Center actively advises, guides, and introduces jobs to help them soon find a job that suits their abilities. Ms. Tong Thi Phuong Thuy, Job Consulting and Introduction Department (Hung Yen Employment Service Center) shared: When workers come to apply for unemployment insurance, the Center will coordinate to advise and introduce jobs; free vocational training counseling to help them have new jobs, increase their ability to find jobs; introduce jobs domestically and abroad; and provide additional advice on study abroad programs, labor export, etc.
Mr. Tran Van Han, Binh Nguyen commune, shared: Through the consultation of the staff at the Center, I have learned about a few companies in the province that are suitable for my abilities and strengths. I plan to return to work here to have a stable income and take care of my family. Ms. Pham Thi Nhien, Nam Tien Hung commune, said: I plan to return to work for a local textile enterprise after the end of the period of receiving unemployment insurance. The subsidy during this period is very valuable, but in the long run, I have to participate in the job market to have a stable job and income.
For workers receiving unemployment insurance, career guidance and counseling from professional agencies is extremely important because this is the key to helping workers escape the vicious cycle of unemployment and find a sustainable path for the future. However, there are still some workers who are only interested in receiving benefits but have not actively sought new jobs, or have made dishonest declarations. To solve this problem, Hung Yen Employment Service Center continues to promote in-depth counseling, strengthen connections with vocational training institutions and businesses, and improve the capacity of the team of consultants to support workers in finding suitable jobs soon and stabilizing their lives with their own hands in a sustainable way.
