According to the latest reports from Nepalese authorities, the death toll from the earthquake that struck the western mountainous region of the country on the evening of November 3rd has risen to at least 157. Security forces quickly arrived at the scene, assisting rescue workers in searching for missing people in the rubble near the earthquake's epicenter.
A spokesperson for Nepal's police force said that Jajarkot and Rukum were the two districts in Karnali province most severely affected by the 5.6 magnitude earthquake, with 105 and 52 fatalities reported in those two locations, respectively.
In addition, the earthquake injured more than 100 other people in the two districts.
Security forces have been deployed both on land and in the air to assist in search and rescue operations. However, rescue efforts are hampered by the fact that many roads leading to the affected area have been destroyed by the earthquake.
