(NLDO) - Men's doubles players Dinh Hoang and Dinh Manh made history by becoming the first Vietnamese duo to reach the quarterfinals of the Vietnam Open.

On the afternoon of September 11, the pair Nguyen Dinh Hoang - Tran Dinh Manh (ranked 96th in the world ) created a big surprise in the men's doubles event of the Super 100 Tournament - Vietnam Open 2025 when they defeated the 6th seed after only two sets. Winning the right to enter the quarterfinals of Vietnam Open 2025, Hoang and Manh created a historical milestone as the first men's pair to enter this round in the history of the tournament.

After a hard-fought victory in round 1 (10-9), Vietnam's number 1 men's doubles continued to explode in a fierce competition against the Chinese Taipei duo, Su Ching-Heng and Wu Guan-Xun (ranked 71st in the world).

Set 1 witnessed a dramatic chase as both sides continuously fought for each point, making the atmosphere at Nguyen Du Gymnasium (HCMC) boil. In the middle of the set, Hoang and Manh broke away with a series of 4 points to lead 11-7, creating a big advantage to reach the first match point.

The Chinese Taipei men's pair's efforts helped them save two set points in a row, but they still had to give up at 20-22.

In set 2, the tense scenario continued to repeat itself when the score gap was always close. With the enthusiastic cheers of the home crowd, Hoang and Manh played with great courage, ending the match with a thrilling 24-22 victory, officially winning the right to continue to the quarterfinals.

Besides, there was also a surprise in the same bracket of Hoang - Manh. The No. 1 seeds from Chinese Taipei, He Zhi-Wei and Huang Jui-Hsuan (ranked 37th in the world) fell to their compatriots Chen Sheng-Fa and Lu Chen (ranked 147th) in 2 sets.

The 147th ranked duo will move on and face two Vietnamese players, helping Hoang and Manh's chances of continuing to write history wide open.

Also today, Hai Dang and Thuy Linh brought two comebacks in 3 sets to enter the quarterfinals of the men's and women's singles of the tournament.
