2025 is a special year with many important memories for the nation. Does accepting to sing in What Will Last 2025 bring any special feelings when it has been a long time since you returned to this stage?

I am extremely proud and honored to be present in the program "What remains forever " organized by VietNamNet on September 2 at Ho Guom Theater, starting at 2:00 p.m. - the exact historical moment when Uncle Ho read the Declaration of Independence.

Of the many important events of 2025, this is perhaps the most important. All singers, including me, are eagerly awaiting the moment to step onto the stage of the Hoan Kiem Theater.

- The program "What remains forever" is famous for honoring Vietnamese musical heritage. Can you share some memorable moments from your previous participation?

An unforgettable memory for me was the time I participated in Dieu Con Mai when I sang the song Nho ve Ha Noi , arranged by musician Tran Manh Hung for the orchestra and under the direction of conductor Le Phi Phi.

Singer Hong Nhung with a special ao dai on stage "Forever".

The ao dai I chose was created by French designer Valerie McKenzie - who has lived in Vietnam for over 20 years and has a special love for the country and Vietnamese music. The ao dai is very special with Vietnamese silk material, traditional hand-crocheted art but with a bit of French influence. Standing on the stage of the Hanoi Opera House, the music and costumes together enhanced the beauty of the song about the beloved capital. This is a very profound memory for me.

Hong Nhung performed "Remembering Hanoi" at "What remains forever" 2010:

- In "The Lasting Thing 2010", you performed "Remembering Hanoi" by musician Hoang Hiep - the song associated with your name. Returning to "The Lasting Thing 2025" with "Hanoi Song" by musician Vu Thanh, what are you preparing?

As a singer, I am very happy and proud when the audience all over the country thinks that perhaps "Miss Bong" Hong Nhung is the person who sings about Hanoi the most. Maybe that is true because I have been singing about Hanoi since I was a child. At the age of 17, I had my first cassette tape with Remembering Hanoi.

This time in the special program to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Independence, musician Tran Manh Hung chose Hanoi Song by musician Vu Thanh for me to perform. This is a wonderful song, both heroic and soft, emotional and elegant in the style of Hanoi people. Previously, Ms. Le Dung - who I admire very much - performed this song very successfully.

This is the first time I sing so I am very nervous. I listened to People's Artist Le Dung sing, then received advice from musician Tran Manh Hung to create my own version - with the thoughts and pride of Hanoians on the important day of the whole country. Hopefully, with the orchestra, I will perform a new version that is both emotional and heroic.

- Your career spans more than four decades, starting in Hanoi with the Nightingale Team and the Voice of Vietnam . What significance do those early days have in Hong Nhung's mind?

In the early days, I was still a toddler - 10, 11 years old, stepping onto the stage of the children's cultural house, then recording the song "Greetings of You" at the Voice of Vietnam Radio Station with the orchestra under the direction of musician Cao Viet Bach.

At that time, the night before I could not sleep because of excitement. I remember every moment when I entered the premises of the Voice of Vietnam Radio Station, when I stood and sang with the orchestra with musician Cao Viet Bach conducting. All of these were extremely precious, priceless fortunes - the first bricks that created a long-lasting musical career for which I am extremely grateful.

- Recent projects such as the concert "Hong Nhung sings about Hanoi" show your deep love for the capital. Are there any moments of your life in Hanoi that continue to inspire your music?

My hometown Hanoi is not only a great love but also a source, where I was born, grew up, matured and was born with the character of a Hanoian. I feel like my hometown has favored me too much. Perhaps singing about my hometown is where I always feel most moved and most true to myself.

Therefore, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital, together with musician Hoai Sa and director Cao Trung Hieu, I want to carry out a program that is wholeheartedly about soul and art - not only music but also other art forms such as dance and visual arts - to somehow give back, to say thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Of course, thank you is never enough for my homeland. This time is a precious opportunity to sing in What remains forever with Hanoi Song by musician Vu Thanh - the first time I have performed this song.
