The VietinBank Youth Union aspires to continue to promote its pioneering, proactive, innovative, and creative role in all activities; and to organize meaningful programs to contribute to building a more sustainable and prosperous VietinBank.
At the program, the Standing Committee of the Youth Union of the Central Business Bloc decided to award Certificates of Commendation to the VietinBank Youth Union and two individuals from the VietinBank Youth Union for their outstanding achievements in the voluntary blood donation movement during the period 2020 - 2023.
Leaders, officials, union members, youth, and workers throughout the system participated in voluntary blood donation at various locations.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, officials, union members, young people, workers, and their families at 20 locations nationwide participated in health check-ups and blood donation at the program.
By the end of the event, nearly 3,000 units of blood had been donated to hospitals. This blood was transferred to the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion and hospitals in provinces/cities to replenish the blood bank, which was experiencing shortages, thereby providing timely treatment for patients in need of blood.
Blood is a unique medicine that cannot be replaced by any other product. According to statistics from the World Health Organization, Vietnam needs approximately 2 million units of blood annually for treating injuries, accidents, surgeries, and for people with illnesses requiring blood transfusions.
Every two seconds, there are requests for blood transfusions, and on average, one in seven people admitted to the hospital need a blood transfusion. However, currently, we only meet 70% of this demand. The blood reserves of medical centers and hospitals are insufficient to meet the increasing demand for transfusions, especially during summer holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year).
The VietinBank Youth Union's blood donation program is continuing in many provinces and cities nationwide during June and July 2023, aiming for over 3,500 units of blood.
