Promoting the pioneering role

Raising the issue for the forum, Prof. Dr. Dinh Xuan Dung - Director of the Institute of Entrepreneurship Research told about the heroic revolutionary struggle history of the Vietnamese people in the past.

In particular, on the ideological front, the team of journalists and propagandists always play a pioneering role, contributing to victories and creating turning points in the battle situation.

With that pioneering role, in a period when the country is facing many difficulties and challenges, a correct policy of the Government on promoting startups, supporting the building of a startup ecosystem among all classes of people, the press and media need to have a more positive view, need to have an honest, straightforward, courageous and clear voice.

Professor, Dr. Dinh Xuan Dung believes that starting an economic business is one of the greatest careers ever in the history of the nation.

Vietnam was once famous throughout the five continents in the struggle to regain national independence, but Vietnam has never been known for any economic victory.

And the start-up career that is encouraged by the Government today is an important lever for us to make the next "historic victories".

Frankly acknowledging the reality, Professor Dinh Xuan Dung hopes that journalists and media workers will consider startups as a national cause, not just a general startup movement as the mass media has often reported in recent years.

The propaganda mission of the press in this important historical period is that Vietnam is moving from a backward country to a developed country, improving income levels.

“This career is placed on the shoulders of those who work in cultural and ideological activities, in which press and publishing are one of the sharpest weapons. Starting a business is not only favorable, the macro economy is temporarily stable, but the number of businesses that fail is no less than the number of newly established businesses, an uncertainty in the process of economic development, requiring completely new solutions and new motivations” - Professor, Dr. Dinh Xuan Dung said.

Sharing the same opinion with Prof. Dr. Dinh Xuan Dung, Dr. Dinh Viet Hoa - Chairman of the National Startup Association said that startups are no longer a movement or an entrepreneurial spirit, but a national undertaking.

We often wish for a prosperous country, that is, one rich in economy and beautiful in culture. But if we want a rich country, we must have many rich people, and first of all, we must be rich.

Startups have been fulfilling their responsibilities as Vietnamese citizens, contributing to the country’s progress. Because when they start a business, it means they have a job, reducing the problem of unemployment in society.

They start a business long enough to become a business, they need workers, they recruit and continue to solve jobs for many other workers. Just think about it simply, the subjects of startups have made great contributions to society, at least, they are not a burden to society, even in times of economic difficulties like today.

“From a higher perspective, startups create value for society. They have few needs and do not set the highest goal of making money, but will contribute and serve society with their products and intelligence. Their journey is the journey of creating social values,” said Dr. Dinh Viet Hoa.

According to Dr. Dinh Viet Hoa, because of these things, the team of journalists needs to have a fairer view of the startup subjects. With the values they bring, the team of journalists must encourage, motivate, and add more motivation to their arduous path.

With experience in journalism, traveling a lot, knowing a lot and filtering multi-dimensional information, journalists have a deeper and more convincing voice when frankly acknowledging the weaknesses and limitations of startups so that they can adjust their startup journey to have less risk.

Dr. Dinh Viet Hoa emphasized: “The team of journalists and media must accompany the start-up subjects, sometimes taking the lead to encourage, sometimes quietly staying by to remind and motivate. I believe that, with the enthusiasm of journalists, the start-up journey will have more good pages, contributing to the overall success of the start-up process.”
