According to the Traffic Police Department of Dong Nai Provincial Police, PET driver's licenses are more durable, water-resistant, mold-resistant, and secure than traditional paper licenses. The cards are integrated with QR codes, allowing authorities to quickly and accurately verify information while reducing the risk of forgery.
Notably, when switching to PET cards, citizens' driver's license information will be updated in the National Population Database and can be integrated into the VNeID electronic identification application. People will no longer need to carry multiple documents when participating in traffic or carrying out administrative procedures.
Furthermore, the PET driving permit is a requirement for obtaining an international driving permit, facilitating Vietnamese citizens when studying, working, or living abroad.
