Dong Thap: Strengthening management and closely monitoring the exploitation of water resources

Dong Thap is building a Plan to exploit and use water resources for domestic use, agricultural production, and aquaculture in the province in accordance with the Water Resource Scenario.

Accordingly, implementing Decision No. 4815 dated November 14, 2025 of the Minister of Agriculture and Environment (MARD) on promulgating the Water Resources Scenario in the Mekong River Basin in the dry season of 2025 - 2026, the Provincial People's Committee requests agencies and units in the province, People's Committees of communes and wards, according to their functions, tasks and powers, to focus on implementing a number of key tasks.

First of all, it is necessary to organize, disseminate, and disseminate widely on the media or other appropriate forms to organizations and individuals exploiting and using water resources within the scope of the responsible field and people in the management area regarding the contents of the Water Resource Scenario to have a suitable plan for exploiting and using water resources.

The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Construction and relevant departments, branches and units based on the Water Resource Scenario to advise the Provincial People's Committee to develop a Plan for exploiting and using water resources for domestic use, agricultural production and aquaculture in the province appropriately.

At the same time, it is necessary to strengthen the management and closely monitor the exploitation of water resources in the province; strengthen the implementation of monitoring of water environment quality, especially for water sources inside irrigation works (culverts) in areas with water intake locations of important water plants in the province (especially during drought and salinity, when culverts are closed...).

At the same time, inspect, control and strictly handle facilities that discharge untreated wastewater that meets environmental technical standards on wastewater into surface water sources.

The People's Committees of communes and wards, based on the actual situation in the locality and the Provincial Plan for Exploitation and Use of Water Resources, organize the development and implementation of the Plan for Exploitation and Use of Water Resources for domestic use, agricultural production, and aquaculture in the management area...
