This is the figure announced by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism according to preliminary statistics of travel businesses at the opening ceremony of Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival last night at September 23 Park.
The series of activities of the Tourism Festival took place until April 7 with the participation of more than 150 booths from travel agencies, tourist attractions and localities. On the first day of the opening, the booths had promotional tour sales, gifts, and lucky draw activities attracting a large number of visitors.
On the opening night, the organizing committee announced the results of the vote for the top tourism in Ho Chi Minh City for nearly 100 tourism businesses.

Mr. Ho An Phong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, assessed that among a series of tourism events held annually, Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival is an event held very early and annually, achieving high efficiency.
According to Mr. Phong, Ho Chi Minh City's tourism industry has many advantages but also faces many challenges due to its role as an economic locomotive, tourism development locomotive, and innovation center of the country.

The Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that, from the advantage of being a core tourism center, Ho Chi Minh City needs to continue to maintain and cooperate in developing eco-tourism in the Mekong Delta; develop and perfect the smart tourism platform, "one touch - ten thousand experiences", enhance the convenience and experience of domestic and international tourists, contributing to the growth of visitors.
"We need to boldly have plans and attractive policies to turn Ho Chi Minh City into a regional MICE tourism center, competing with other destinations in Southeast Asia," Mr. Phong shared.
Suoi Tien Cultural Tourism Area's booth offers a 20% discount voucher for entrance tickets, applicable from April 4 to May 4, 2024 for visitors to the festival. On the occasion of Hung King's death anniversary, this tourist area also reduces the entrance ticket price to 120,000 VND/adult ticket and 60,000 VND/child ticket on April 18, 2024.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Vo Van Hoan informed that in the first quarter of 2024, Ho Chi Minh City welcomed 1.38 million international visitors and more than 8 million domestic visitors. Total tourism revenue reached 44.7 trillion VND, up 23.8% over the same period and accounting for 23.7% of the country's total revenue. This result shows that the city's tourism industry is recovering and growing well, continuing to be the core connecting and promoting the development of tourism in the Southeast region and the Mekong Delta.
Tourists hunting for foreign tours
Although selling a variety of tours and combo products, many visitors to the festival prioritize finding good-priced foreign tours. At the Saigontourist Travel booth, Ms. Thu Trang (living in Binh Thanh District) after paying for a Thailand tour for her whole family at 5 million VND/person said with satisfaction: "Going abroad at such a price is too cheap. I bought it in advance so that the whole family can travel this summer."
This booth also recorded a large number of customers coming to learn about the Cambodia overland tour for 2 million VND; Zhangjiajie tour for 9.9 million VND; Korea, China, Hong Kong, India tour for 10.9 million VND... departing in the summer. On the first day alone, the booth sold tours to 175 customers, earning more than 2.5 billion VND.
Many visitors choose foreign tours at Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival
On the opening day, Vietravel booth welcomed more than 1,000 visitors, of which more than 900 visitors booked tours to get preferential prices at the festival, bringing in nearly 2.9 billion VND in revenue. Of which, the charter tour to Thailand flying with Vietravel Airlines for 4.9 million VND attracted a large number of interested and registered visitors.
BenThanh Tourist representative informed that there are many customers who "spend a lot of money" on tour products with high value such as Northern Europe tour with promotional price of 96.9 million VND, Eastern Europe tour with price of 87.9 million VND. Besides, Thailand tours with price from 6.9 million VND, Singapore - Malaysia tour with price from 10.9 million VND... are also the tour routes chosen by many customers.
