Ho Chi Minh City - My Thuan Expressway expected to expand from 2025

Project Management Board 7 (Ministry of Construction) has just submitted to the Vietnam Road Administration for appraisal the feasibility study report of the project to expand the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway, under the public-private partnership (PPP) method, BOT contract form.

The project has a total investment capital of more than VND 41,372 billion, of which the investor's equity is more than VND 6,200 billion, the rest is capital mobilized from credit sources, bond issuance and other legal channels.

Of the total length of 96.13km, the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong section will be expanded from 6 to 8-12 lanes, with an operating speed of 100-120km/h; the Trung Luong - My Thuan section will be expanded to 6 lanes. The project also includes the construction and upgrading of bridges, culverts, rest stops, lighting systems, ITS, non-stop electronic toll collection, ensuring safety and modern standards.

The project is expected to be implemented from 2025 to 2028. The investor will be allowed to operate and exploit the project for 21 years and 3 months. Once completed, the project will help reduce pressure on National Highway 1, which is often congested during holidays and Tet.
